Today we’d like to introduce you to David J Wallace, Ed.d
Hi David J, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began on July 7, 2021, when I had a dream of creating a wellness space that would provide a sanctuary for healing and connection. From that moment, I was driven by the vision of bringing this space to life, but the road wasn’t easy. I faced several challenges securing the right location—there were moments of frustration and uncertainty as I searched for a space that felt right and aligned with the vision.
After a long search and overcoming many hurdles, I finally found 401 Baronne Street, a place that resonated with the energy I wanted to cultivate. It was the perfect home for Dream House Lounge, and with hard work, dedication, and the support of the community, we officially opened our doors. Dream House Lounge is now a space where people can experience wellness in various forms—whether it’s through our plant-based offerings, healing classes, or other wellness services.
This journey has been one of persistence, faith, and community, and I’m grateful for every step that led me here.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a journey full of challenges, but what has kept me going, even in the toughest moments, is my unwavering faith in God, the ancestors, and the Orishas. My spiritual grounding is what I’ve leaned on when things got hard. From the uncertainty of whether people would embrace a non-alcoholic space to the unexpected business issues like the AC going out, plumbing problems, and most recently, the two-month construction project that almost caused us to close down—it’s been a lot to handle.
Throughout it all, my village—my spiritual community and supporters—has been there, lifting me up when I didn’t have the strength to do it alone. The strain on my mental health has been real, especially with the pressure to show up even on days when I’m not feeling well. But my faith and connection to the Orishas and my ancestors have kept me afloat, reminding me that I’m not walking this path alone. Each challenge has deepened my purpose, and with every step, I know I’m guided and supported in creating a space that centers wellness, healing, and community.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dream House Lounge?
Dream House Lounge is more than just a wellness space—it’s a sanctuary designed to help people reconnect with themselves, heal, and grow. We specialize in creating a holistic, plant-based environment where the focus is on wellness in all its forms. From our curated selection of Delta-9 flower, edibles, and infused beverages to our offerings like oxygen therapy, aromatherapy, and wellness classes, Dream House Lounge is where mind, body, and spirit come together.
What sets us apart is our unique approach to healing and community. We’ve cultivated a space that is non-alcoholic, plant-based, and infused with spiritual and cultural practices that promote well-being. We aim to create a supportive environment that feels like home—a space where you can heal, relax, and find community without judgment.
One of the things I’m most proud of brand-wise is how we’ve woven wellness into everything we do, from the services we provide to the environment we’ve created. Dream House Lounge is a reflection of holistic wellness, and we’ve been able to foster a space that not only nourishes the body but also uplifts the spirit. Our offerings are designed with intention, centering plant-based healing and wellness, and are accessible through classes, readings, and experiences that touch every part of your being.
I want your readers to know that Dream House Lounge is here to support them on their wellness journey. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, community, or healing, we offer a range of services tailored to meet you where you are. From our infused menu to our wellness experiences, everything we do is centered on creating a space for growth, self-care, and connection.
Most importantly, we are committed to accessibility. That’s why we’ve recently made offerings like our Soul Work Sunday sessions pay-what-you-can, because healing should be for everyone, regardless of financial barriers. Dream House Lounge is more than a business; it’s a movement toward holistic living and spiritual connection.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see significant shifts happening in the wellness and cannabis industries, particularly as they become more intertwined. As people increasingly prioritize holistic health and plant-based living, there will be a growing demand for wellness spaces like Dream House Lounge that offer alternative healing practices and non-alcoholic, plant-based experiences.
One of the biggest changes I anticipate is the continued destigmatization of cannabis, especially in wellness settings. As research into the health benefits of cannabis expands, I expect to see more spaces embracing its integration into holistic health, moving beyond recreational use to focus on healing and well-being. Cannabis cocktails, infused products, and wellness activations like we’re offering at Dream House will likely become mainstream, with more people exploring how cannabis can support mental, physical, and spiritual health.
I also predict a rise in accessibility and inclusivity in wellness. People are looking for experiences that cater to their whole being, and as this industry evolves, we’ll see more emphasis on creating spaces that are culturally relevant, accessible to all income levels, and rooted in community healing. The “pay-what-you-can” model for wellness services is something I believe will gain traction as we move away from wellness being seen as a luxury and more as a necessity.
In addition, I think there will be a shift toward more localized, community-based wellness offerings. The trend of globalized, one-size-fits-all wellness solutions is losing its appeal. Instead, people will look for wellness experiences that speak to their specific cultural backgrounds, local traditions, and individual needs, blending ancient wisdom with modern practices.
Technology will also play a role, with virtual wellness experiences becoming more advanced and interactive, offering people a way to connect to wellness communities regardless of location. However, the demand for in-person, tangible healing experiences—like what Dream House Lounge offers—will remain strong, as people seek to balance their digital lives with grounded, real-world connections.
Overall, I see the wellness and cannabis industries moving toward a more integrated, inclusive, and holistic future where plant-based healing, mental health, and spiritual well-being are at the center of the movement.
