Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivymay
Hi Ivymay, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember—starting with bopping my head to disco as a toddler. I spent 10 years classically trained in piano, and although I appreciated that experience, my true passion has always been dance music. After a decade-long career in social media and content management for major corporations, I felt creatively unfulfilled. So in 2020, I launched my own brand, IvyMay & Co., which led me on a deep dive into spirituality and energy. This reflection helped me realize that I could finally pursue what I’d always wanted: a career as an artist. I’ve been DJing for two years now, am learning music production, and am excited to combine my business expertise with my creative passion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a smooth journey overall, and I’m grateful for how everything has unfolded. The most important lesson I’ve learned is to appreciate the present—enjoying the friendships, the building process, and the journey of becoming. The only real struggle I face is internal: fear, anxiety, and self-doubt. But I see these challenges as opportunities for growth. Running towards fear is how I build both my potential and my character. Life, to me, is a beautiful process.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Right now, I’m focused on DJing, music production, and creating content that’s true to who I am while building my brand. What sets me apart is that I follow my own path, rather than chasing trends or expectations. In music, people often struggle by trying to follow paths that aren’t authentic to them. I believe in connecting the dots from our own unique experiences to create something meaningful. For me, it’s not about big venues or festivals—it’s about finding meaning in my journey, exploring new things, and creating fun, memorable vibes wherever I go, whether it’s in the desert, a city cleanup or a local coffee shop.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
As a child, I was incredibly artistic—always drawing, playing music, and constantly surrounded by animals. I had a natural instinct to care for them, especially if they were hurt. And I was a nonstop talker; you could never get me to be quiet!
