Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Clark
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m an esthetician and biodynamic craniosacral therapist. I began this journey shortly after moving to New York City from Northern California in 2007. I’m an internationally accredited and New York State licensed esthetician. While studying this work and beginning my practice I became fascinated by deeper layers and patterns underneath the skin. The chemistry of topical formulations kept my interest and concern, but I was drawn beyond the products. What was the connection to deeper physiology and anatomy? How can I tangibly feel and connect to those layers?
In 2009 I suffered a head injury which lead me to craniosacral therapy, per a client’s suggestion. I was blown away by how responsive my body was, it felt incredibly healing. I continued with my skincare practice, but couldn’t shake the feeling of wanting to learn more. In 2015 I committed to studying craniosacral therapy and received my certification two years later. This work has greatly influenced my skincare practice and expanded my ability to support client’s health even further.
My goal with any treatment is to connect to your innate intelligence of healing, supporting and amplifying your health and state of being. Through skincare, craniosacral work or distance healing sessions, I’m here to listen and guide you to your highest self. That is where true beauty radiates from.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Over the years I’ve had many obstacles both personally and professionally. All shaped who I am today. As mentioned before I had a head injury in 2009 which lead me to craniosacral therapy. It’s a long story that I may do a blog about down the road, but in summary I fell and had an intense concussion. I’m very fortunate the impact didn’t have long lasting repercussions. I dealt with some cognitive issues immediately after, but my body came around. It’s interesting how sometimes life challenges or injuries can open up new worlds to walk down. I’m unsure I would’ve come across craniosacral therapy and the influence it had on me without this injury. Studying this work and eventually providing these kind of healing treatments have changed me tremendously. It’s really opened my entire being with a new way of connecting to myself and others. Did the universe, god, grand matrix whatever you call it have influence on my fall? Who’s to say? It very much feels like I’m meant to offer this work. I enjoy asking myself these philosophical questions that I don’t really need the answers to. Pondering with curiosity has lead me to wonderful things. I strive to continue to do that personally and professionally. How can we meet each other and our life experiences with curiosity instead of judgment?
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Stillpoint Beauty was born to create a conscious bridge to our internal and external worlds — to connect deeper to our innate intelligence of healing and to amplify our most vibrant health and optimal state of being. Through skincare, tmj and distance healing sessions, I’m here to listen and guide you to your highest self-because that is where true beauty radiates from.
I’m most know for my tmj massage. Through external and intra-oral massage work I’m able to provide relief and healing with tmj related issues. My preferred way of working is to combine manual massage and craniosacral therapy to support this area. Its a very niche offering, but I find it’s enthusiastically met for clients struggling with these issues.
I’m most proud of following my intuition and interests which has lead me to open my own practice and be of service to my community. Growing up I never imagined having my own business in New York City, but I am proud I listened and followed my intuition. This path has really enriched my life in ways I can’t fully explain. I’ve gotten to know myself on deep layers and I look forward to what will continue and where this leads.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up in Northern California, specifically Sacramento has provided me with a love of diversity, good quality food and nature adventures. On my maternal side I have four aunts in addition to my mom. I’m one of thirteen grandchildren, nine which are women. Our family was and still are very close. Having that strong of a female presence in my life has really influenced me. That sense of sisterhood, supporting and amplifying each other was threaded into my nature. I’ve never felt a sense of competition or judgment towards other women. I truly think there is enough pieces of the pie to go around and the more we support each other the better the world will be. This applies to everyone as well as other animals and all of earth’s creatures.
When I moved to New York people would say how everyone from California is so chill. Of course this is such a generalization, but something I never really thought about. When flying back to Sacramento after being in New York for a while I finally understood and saw what they were talking about. I’ve lived in New York City for seventeen years and feel like I have a happy blend of chill California, but also that drive and efficiency that New Yorkers are famous for. I’m grateful for having that balance.
