Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Romett
Hi Kat, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
For me, I really started this journey as I was caring for my oldest, who is currently nonverbal and special needs. Through a really dark time of handling extreme stress, I lost feeling in the whole left side of my body. The more I talked with health professionals in all types of fields, many of them came back with the same concern for me, which was that I was managing extreme chronic stress. As I was coming to the realization that stress can affect our bodies in physical ways, I than wanted to help other women and caregivers who have gone through stress and trauma.
I than went to school for reflexology and later down the road also started a magnesium herbal stress care company. These two outlets are very meaningful to me, as I’m able to not let my hardships be wasted, but in turn use those experiences to help others who have gone through similar journeys.
My heart is to bring healing and peace in how I work on clients through reflexology, and through the products I make to support weary bodies and frazzled nerves.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If I would have waited till my life was calm and “balanced” I would have never made any movement. We tend to grow as we go, and using what’s in your hands is the first place to start. I remember getting my first huge job with a rather large company, for my apothecary business. I made so many units and than found out that the metal material the customer had chosen was reacting with one of the organic herbal ingredients in my product. The products had already gone to a large portion of people as well. It was extremely humbling and I had to refund a pretty huge amount of profit, but in the process I really understood the importance of not only of learning through mistakes, but also to have integrity and kindness in how I interacted with those I was doing business with. Mistakes happen and I have learned a multitude of things through the mishaps along the way, helping me learn what is working, what’s not…what’s important, and what is not.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started by creating Peace Roots Reflexology. I am a Licensed Reflexology Practitioner, musician, & mother of 2 boys. I have my space for reflexology in Souderton, Pa. Through my journey with parenting a child with special needs, I have learned the importance of self care & holistic health. I see the benefits reflexology has in creating peace in the body, which in turn creates peace in stress-filled environments. Kat has a special interest in caring for caretakers in various fields, as well women who handle stress on a daily basis. I have also teamed up with my other company, Peace Roots Apothecary, in formulating a Barefoot Recovery Foot Care Line, helping those transitioning into minimal footwear, as well as for those in various streams of the barefoot community. My products support athletes, avid barefooters, dancers, those recovering from injuries, holistic health professionals, chiropractors, podiatrists, personal trainers, anyone feeling sore feet, those feeling the effects of stress and more.
In Peace Roots Apothecary I have learned that finding all natural & safe ways to create peace & health is the perfect way to start your body on a journey to fulfilled self care. Peace Roots Apothecary is centered on supporting you in feeling peace again. Our passion is Whole Plant Herbal & Magnesium Body Care and Herbal Skincare with organic and locally sourced ingredients, made in small batches.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Don’t despise small beginnings. Sometimes we want to grow quickly, which is pushed on us by the fast service culture around us, but growth takes time. The process refines us, the mistakes humble us, and the products and services we create become better when we learn to change, grow and adapt through it all.
