Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryla Louise
Hi Ryla, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Art has been my lifelong passion, a journey that began with childhood creations and evolved into a deep-seated love for painting. However, it was during the pandemic, amidst uncertain times, that my artistic path took a transformative turn. I was thoughtfully gifted an art kit for Christmas 2019. This gesture sparked a rekindling of my creative spirit in a different form, as I had moved to NYC for acting, providing the tools and inspiration to delve deeper into my craft. Painting became not just a pastime but a lifeline, offering solace and expression during challenging moments during the locked down and jobless months of 2020. Since then, I have poured my heart into my artwork, continually honing my skills and finding joy in the process of creation.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Embarking on my art journey has been a rewarding yet challenging experience. While there have been moments of frustration, such as clients neglecting to make their payments, troubleshooting when things don’t turn out as expected, and experiencing lulls in work, the journey has also been punctuated by remarkable achievements. I’ve had the privilege of creating vibrant and engaging art installations and paintings for hospitality venues in New York City and private collections. These projects have allowed me to blend creativity with practicality, crafting pieces that resonate with both patrons and private collectors alike. Despite the hurdles, these standout moments have affirmed my passion for art and reinforced my commitment to creating memorable and meaningful artworks.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My journey in art embodies a fusion of graphic design, different mediums, and a deep-seated passion for abstract artistic expression. I specialize in creating immersive experiences that transcend traditional boundaries, blending vibrant colors with glow-in-the-dark/blacklight activated pigments, to evoke nostalgia and joy in viewers.
What sets me apart is not just my ability to bring clients visions to life, craft visually striking pieces but also to evoke joy rather than sadness or negative emotions in my viewers. I am most proud of how my work resonates with audiences, the joy it brings them, inviting them to rediscover childlike wonder through my art.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I’m not sure where the industry will go because it hasn’t changed in so long. The best new development I saw shake up the art scene was NFTs. Since the rise and fall of NFTs, a lot of plaftorms for selling NFT art have removed the best feature about them- commission for future sales.
NFTs might have a resurgence but if theres literally no benefit for artwork to be sold online in that manor, I don’t see it taking over from the way art is currently sold.

- Pricing is based off how much experience and time you’ve put into your career
- It’s rather difficult to price up your own work
