Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Mcmaster
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi! Thank you for having me. My name is Tyler McMaster and I am a singer/songwriter from Columbus, Ohio. I sing because it makes me happy and I always want to keep it in my life. In fact, music was always present in my life until it became a necessity in my life. At a young age, television talent show contestants inspired me with their bravery and vocal ability. My choir teachers encouraged me to never stop singing, so I didn’t. As my life’s story unfolded before my eyes, I was compelled to write it down. I journal to write down important moments in my life, but songs were a way to write down important emotions in my life. Songs help me understand emotions and how they evolve over time. I’m happy to be able to share these songs with the world in hopes that other people relate to them.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Mental obstacles are the hardest to overcome. Questioning my ability is something I worry about. I push myself to go for it anyway and I’m always happy I persevered. For example, songwriting is a very vulnerable state to be in, so trusting someone to produce it is scary. Luckily, I opened myself up creatively to create songs in very proud of. Even in moments during the recording process where I was afraid to hit a note or unsure of what melody I wanted to sing, my producer Al was super supportive and encouraging. I needed someone like that to keep me going at times where I felt a lot of weight on my shoulders.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Sure! I have released two songs into the world with more on the way. I have been featured on 100.7 Star’s Live and Local Spotlight where they played my song “Under the Lights” on the radio for the first time! I perform acoustic sets and release pop music inspired by Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and Ed Sheeran. I plan on releasing my first album this year with another single out on September 6th called “The Stars Look Brighter”! I love seeing what other new artists are bringing to the pop stage and am constantly inspired by their talent, creativity, and work-ethic.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you’re just starting out, don’t give up on yourself. Your support group will always be around as long as you are around for yourself. Self-doubt will make you hesitate, but don’t let it stop you. Additionally, no one has achieved success without failures, even those who seem to always hit the right marks and make the right moves. I’m thankful every day I’m on this earth and I try to live up to my greatest potential with my hopes and dreams in clear sight.
