Today we’d like to introduce you to Moe Murdock
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
A few years back while working various PM jobs in the advertising space (non creative) I was always taking painting and drawing classes and fantasized about living a creative life. Up to and until Covid I kept struggling with this duality of how to sustain myself financially and emotionally and make a change into something that I want to do. Finally one day during the pandemic I decided that I could no longer neglect those creative impulses and I decided to make the leap. I took the next three years after that to get where I am today. Now I have changed careers into the world of 2D/3D motion design and have been making my way there ever since and I don’t regret it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think that one of the biggest struggles has been the fact that the world is different now.
All the advice that I got about making a career switch became outdated rather quickly since covid – yet some things do still apply. So part of that effort now is trying to find my way with help from the right people while not being overwhelmed with the endless sources of advice out there.
Another struggle has been keeping up with software and deal with AI panic. No one really knows what the long-term impacts are going to be, which can be nerve wracking and panic inducing. I have personally been observing the new developments as they come and just being aware of the new creative possibilities, while trying to not be overcome with fear.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My company is called “Moebocop Visuals” My specialty is bringing storytellers’ visions to life through elegant motion design. I love to work on all kinds of projects from Motion Posters, Music Videos Social Posts, YouTube Graphics, Titles, Interstitials for Film and TV, Visuals for DJ’s and Musicians – anything that is visually exciting and that can also tell a story and that generates excitement for both myself and the client.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Taking a chance despite the circumstances of covid was huge but also a no-brainer.
I still decided to take a leap and make a change to a different career which I don’t regret.
Things should not have to get to such a drastic point (like a global pandemic) for a meaningful life change to happen.
As long as it feels right (you will know) it can be scary but you will most likely land where you want to be after a while.
So I also am going to continue to be connected with people and forming relationships, which still is important no matter what because there is still magic there.
