Hi Jane, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?

In 2010 I founded my own photography studio and my business grew steadily. However, I soon realized that many photographers struggled with the business side of their craft. This insight sparked a new mission: to help other photographers achieve success.

Today, I remain passionate about helping photographers grow their businesses. As a dedicated mentor, I teach professional photographers how to launch and scale their businesses, helping them hone both their artistic and business skills in a highly competitive industry.

I offer business mentorship and coaching, guiding photographers on all aspects of their business, including pricing for profit, marketing, and systems. My goal is to help photographers build profitable photography businesses.

In addition to mentoring, I founded Picsello, a SaaS platform designed to empower photographers by providing the tools they need to manage, market, and monetize their businesses efficiently. Picsello is the culmination of decades of industry experience and years of research, developed in partnership with leading photography experts.

Since 2017, I have taught classes for organizations like the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Ana Brandt’s Baby University, and the Milkyway’s Business Retreat. I have also shared my insights on the business side of photography through contributions to PetaPixel. Most recently, I launched “Focus on Business,” a podcast specifically for photographers where I discuss strategies for launching and growing successful photography ventures.

My journey has been marked by continuous learning and adaptation, driven by a deep love for photography and a commitment to helping others succeed. As I look to the future, I am excited to continue empowering photographers to reach their highest potential and transform their passion into thriving businesses.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

Just like any journey, there are highs and lows. Understanding your “why” is crucial for navigating the challenging moments. I’ve never considered giving up because the need is so significant; it’s what keeps me motivated during the toughest times.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?

Over the past 13 years, I’ve had the privilege of building two photography businesses and developing a coaching program. Helping photographers turn their business dreams into reality has been incredibly fulfilling. One pivotal moment in my career was realizing the necessity to expand the reach of my coaching and educational services. The pause during the COVID-19 pandemic provided the clarity I needed to identify what the photography industry was lacking. Recognizing the demand for a dedicated vertical SaaS platform that combines pricing and coaching, I was inspired to create Picsello, aiming to revolutionize the way photographers manage and grow their businesses. I’ve also learned that the community of photographers that I am helping are my biggest “why” and knowing that I am contributing to important change in the industry that will help more phtoographers run sustainable and profitable businesses is inspiring.
