Today we’d like to introduce you to Avalene R
Hi Avalene, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I first decided to become a Dental Hygienist after finding out that I had unhealthy gums myself. I just had to learn more about gum health myself . After becoming a Dental Hygienist and working for many years, lock down occurred and I started to create fun social media content online. It was at that moment that I realized that many people had questions about their smile. I noticed that people really wanted more information about how to take care of their teeth. This is when I focused my content on dental hygiene. I now create educational and fun videos on Tiktok, youtube, Instagram and Threads helping people smile with confidence.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a smooth road in that it is fun for me and a pleasure to share information and help people take care of their smiles while in braces or going through depression or anxiety. It can be a struggle from time to time when balancing work, life and me taking time to create content. I love creating content so much and wish I had more time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work full time as a Dental Hygienist and also create social media content. Some of my content you may see me dancing while educating, reacting to a video , explaining dentistry or even sharing beauty tips to keep your teeth white and lips beautiful. I love creating fun ways for people to learn online and even have a laugh
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in a small island called Trinidad and Tobago. My family was very poor. I had no real access to dental care and did not even know what dental floss was. For me coming to the united states and learning about my oral health really made me passionate to help other on their smile journey. I was always interested in dance, animals and helping others in some way. I love eating and because I am aware that nutrition plays an important role in our dental health I share my knowledge online. So many foods we believe are good are actually really unhealthy for our teeth. So many habits people think are safe like opening up bottles with our teeth or chewing on ice are so unsafe and may cause you to lose a tooth.
