Today we’d like to introduce you to Shenell Ward
Hi Shenell, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Many don’t know but the business came out with the use of my first and middle name. Shenell Renee means “Indescribable Beauty Reborn”.
I was born in the Bronx and raised in Jamaica, Queens. I have my Bachelors in Psychology from St. John’s University and my Masters in Image Consulting from F.I.T.
I started this brand in 2017 and haven’t looked back. I’m certified in styling, closet organization, and doing color analysis. I have styled fashion shows, video shoots, photo shoots and commercials.
I also have a podcast “More Than Shenell” presently on I-Tunes and Spotify.
In June 2020, I decided that it would make sense for me to start my own online boutique that my customers can shop to have a unique couture experience.
We are excited to have hosted three amazing fashion shows, one which was featured in Fashion Bomb daily, and we just hosted our third fashion show which was featured in the Emerge Fashion show for New York Fashion Week.
Some of our Core Values include, Women Empowerment, Time Management and Customer Service.
In 2022, I released my very first bag, which is avaiable at Pop of Confetti and on Amazon.
I am presently working on revamping my
website and plan to continue to design new items.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I have faced many obstacles along the way. My business slowed down at the beginning of the year, so I decided to take a different approach to drive more sales and engage with my customers.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a certified image consultant from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. One thing I can say that I’m know for are my statement pieces or what I like to call my conversation starters. Sometimes people may not know how to approach us or start a conversation. I find that wearing these pieces help to break the ice.
The think that I am most proud of is the fact that I have done a show in New York Fashion week, I have my very first bag that’s on Amazon and my determination to never give up on my dream.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love living in New York because it’s one of the fashion capitals and you can see nee fashion everywhere you go.
The thing that I like the least is that it’s an over saturated market so you have to always stand out.
