Today, we’d like to introduce you to Maeghan Scott. Maeghan was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented wearebwb.com
Hi Maeghan, we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
Of course! I currently own the Essex County, New Jersey territory of a home care franchise called Right at Home. Right at Home of Essex County has been family owned and operated for 20 years. In fact, we just hosted our 20 year anniversary celebration!
My dad became owner of Right at Home of Essex County in 2004. In 2017, he became ill and I started taking time off of work to support his business. I was working for a PR agency in New York City, supporting consumer food & beverage brands, utilizing my background in communications, marketing and nutrition. When he passed away, I left the PR agency and took over his business full time.
Please tell us more about your brand, Right at Home of Essex County
Right at Home of Essex County provides in-home care to seniors and adults via our incredible team of Certified Home Health Aides (CHHAs), who perform personal care and companion care. We help our clients to live safely and independently at home for as long as possible. Our aides may help with bathing, toileting, dressing, safe ambulation, meals or feeding, exercise, safety supervision, companionship, etc. Each care plan is unique and customized to fit the client’s needs. I believe what sets us apart is our personal touch. We are a family business, and we truly treat our clients and caregivers as family. As the owners of the company, my mom and I are extremely hands on and we are in (what feels like) constant communication with our clients and employees. It allows us to build solid relationships that result in long term, quality partnerships.
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Cait Fitzpatrick and BWB and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with BWB.
As all good partnerships start, we met BWB when we least expected it. I had recently started a women’s networking group of healthcare professionals, and we were looking for speakers to join our monthly zooms and educate the members in various areas. My brother introduced me to a friend of his who had a creative consulting business at the time. She was lovely, but she was not willing to speak on the zoom for free, and unfortunately, we didn’t have a budget! She ended up introducing me to her friends Cait & Casey at BWB. My focus quickly shifted from the networking group to envisioning how BWB could support us. They were the perfect partners I never knew we needed.
I think of BWB as our trusted creative and strategic partners. They are a crucial part of our business despite not being with us in the office each day. Sometimes, it feels like they are! I have a PR background and as a result, I have a ton of ideas that I feel would help to strengthen our personal brand and tell our story. As a small business, we do not always have the time or bandwidth to strategize, plan and execute these ideas on our own – enter BWB.
Our first questions to BWB: Do we need to be on social media? If so, where, how and why? How do we stand out in a crowded market place? We are a franchise, and while our corporate office establishes an overarching brand identity, it is up to us to localize and make it our own. BWB helped us to come up with a creative and strategic plan that felt so right for us. They do not offer a one size fits all solution. They really understand us and our business and what works best for us.
We have worked together on social media content including our newsletter which we are so incredibly proud of; they support our strategic efforts and focus our planning throughout the year; they pitch media on our behalf; they design internal and external collateral for us; they help us plan and even execute big events… the list goes on and on.
As a result, we have come to understand our brand better and know how to speak to what differentiates us. We have seen our business grow since working with BWB and we know this is no coincidence. The way we are representing ourselves is polished, professional and thoughtful. Our communication and messaging is consistent because of our work with BWB.
It’s a relief to know that we have them in our corner when planning, brainstorming and creating. To have an outsider’s perspective is invaluable and there are so many things we would not be able to accomplish without their support. Apart from that, we simply would not have the bandwidth to take on all of these projects. At times, I am surprised at how responsive BWB is, and how quickly their team turns around deliverables. It goes to show how well they understand us and our vision.
