Today we’d like to introduce you to Mercedes Wilson
Hi Mercedes, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello! My name is Mercedes Wilson. I am a breat cancer survivor, wife, mom of 4, tv personality and foodprenuer and so much more. While doing a food segment with my father for a local tv station, I discovered something….my grandmothers relish! She and my grandpa has 11 children, very little money and a huge garden in their back yard. I remember playing in it as a kid. My grandmother cooked for the neighborhood from that garden! I made a version of her relish and those around me went nuts! That was the north of Sadie’s Relish! It’s now sold in 160 stores in New York, PA, Ohio and Indiana!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not! No small business has it easy, unless you have millions to throw into billing your business and marketing. It’s constant work building relationships, doing demos, maintains relationships and keeping customers satisfied! I love it all though, my grandmother is looking down smiling.
We’ve been impressed with Sadie’s Foods, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sadie’s is a brand that uses no preservatives, we practice food transparency bc 76% of consumers care what’s in their food.
I am directly involved with the business, you don’t get a ton of other folks that don’t know the products! There are currently 2 versions of the relish, mold and hot, but there’s more to come!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
