Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Hyatt
Hi Katherine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started working in private practice in the mental health field in hopes to one day being able to work part-time and be a part-time stay at home Mom in the future. That was in 2014. In 2015, my partner at the time completed suicide, completely changing my life and mission in private practice. My mission became to create a holistic space of healing for people. I obtained my 200hr- Yoga Teaching Certification in 2016, really focusing on trauma informed practices and yoga for grief and loss.
I relocated to my hometown of Syracuse, New York in 2017 and obtained my PLLC for Branches of Growth Mental Health Counseling, PLLC in 2018. During this time, I was able to find a building that could not only hold offices for therapy, but a yoga studio! The practice slowly began to grow into a group practicing, with substantial growth during COVID and the integration of mental health care via telehealth. Now in 2024, Branches has 2 locations with 11 offices, 22 clinicians (11 in person, 9 fully remote) , as well as a studio that offers classes 3 days per week with offerings such as reiki, yoga, meditation and sound healing.
Branches of Growth not only offers mental health counseling to individuals ages 3+, couples and families, wellness programming for businesses and community organizations but critical incident stress debriefing services.
I am happy to share that I married in 2018 and have 2 daughters that inspire me daily.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Entrepreneurship is challenging. It can be hard to remember that everyone in the organization does not have the same mission or vision as you do. It has been hard to lose therapists, as they move into their own private practice or other sectors of the field.
I have a tendency to work all the time if able. I really have to work hard on setting boundaries for myself and not let my anxiety take the driver’s seat.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I have recently published a children’s book called “Mindful Maddie” that is available on Amazon, Barnesandnoble.com and www.branchesofgrowth.com for my daughter, Maddie!
Here is a little bit about the book:
“Namaste, World! A Mindful Journey with Maddie”
Embark on a mindful adventure with Maddie as she introduces us to the enriching world of yoga and mindfulness. Guided by her yoga instructor mother, Maddie learns the profound meaning of “namaste” – a word that encompasses both greetings and farewells, gratitude, and respect. In this heartwarming tale, Maddie invites readers to join her in exploring the transformative power of mindfulness, discovering that it’s not about having a mind full of stuff, but rather, a heart full of presence.
