Hi Ingrid, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In February of 2009, I was laid off from my job as a Finance Manager at a non-profit organization. After applying for so many jobs with no offers or call backs, I decided in July 2009 to start my own business. The world of entreprenuership was new to me but I needed to do something to secure my financial future. With $1,500 and a lot of hope, I started Spa Treasures.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Learning a new skill is always challenging but I watched what felt like thousands of videos on making soap, lotion, and bath bombs. With limited money, finding the best prices for quality products took a lot of time. Trying to find places to showcase and sell my products was a huge challenge but after inviting my friends and family to the Spa Treasures launch party, I was off and running.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In 2020, I took a significant step in my entrepreneurial journey by launching a turmeric collection designed specifically to address the needs of individuals with dry, maturing, and acne-prone skin. This collection, comprising four synergistic products, was carefully curated to create a comprehensive skincare regimen. Each product in the bundle works harmoniously to nourish, rejuvenate, and clear the skin, leveraging the potent benefits of turmeric.
Over the past three years, this turmeric collection has emerged as one of my best-selling products. The positive feedback from customers has been overwhelming, with many praising the collection for its effectiveness and gentle care. The proof of its success is in the numbers: nearly 3,600 products have been sold since its launch. This achievement underscores the collection’s popularity and the trust that customers place in my brand.
Building on this momentum, in 2021, I decided to expand my business model by adding wholesale to my selling platforms. This strategic move opened new avenues for growth and proved to be incredibly successful. By partnering with various retailers, I was able to reach a broader audience and significantly increase the visibility and availability of my products. The wholesale venture not only boosted sales but also established strong, lasting relationships with business partners, further cementing the reputation of my brand in the market.
These milestones are a testament to my commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and innovative skincare solutions. The success of the turmeric collection and the fruitful expansion into wholesale demonstrate my ability to adapt, grow, and thrive in a competitive industry.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
COVID didn’t really cause a crisis for my business. To be honest, it helped grow my business by allowing me the time to market my business on various social media platforms at a time when most people were home. The COVID crisis helped a ton of online businesses because most people weren’t allowed to go to retail stores, so they chose to shop online.
