We were lucky to catch up with Adrian Robinson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Adrian, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?

I have a Great Uncle who is really big on family and knowing your people. Every time we have a family event I would always bring my camera so we could have memories of each other in the future. Also I’m really big on history and the people before us. I watch a lot of documentaries and I came across this one interview about a photographer named Gordon Parks from there I went down a rabbit hole and hearing his story made me want to do some similar things.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My Name is Adrian Robinson I’m from Wilmington, NC I call myself a Documentarian as I see myself as a photographer who documents the excellence of Black History.

I think what I love the most about myself and how I’ve grown on this journey is I believe I get a chance to push the culture forward in a positive and catch people in their essence as well as help shape the narrative of who we are as a people.

How did you build your audience on social media?

When I realized that I wanted to do more in photography I decided I wanted to use all of my social media platforms to showcase my art. I came up with a name that I felt fit the brand @LvckyShot_ and from there I would shoot & consistently post Photography daily.

Every day I’m learning and more people are taking notice and sharing experiences & thoughts of my work which is fun for me.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

Simple… putting a smile on my Subjects faces. People love to see themselves in a good light. Especially kids often times after posting pictures of Subjects others tell me how much my photos make them feel like they know the people.
