We recently connected with Dluxe Vegan and have shared our conversation below.
Dluxe, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
One morning in April 2021 as I was preparing breakfast, I noticed I started to feel nauseated with a slight headache. It’s as if the aroma from the food made me feel sick and weirdly, it also made me angry for some reason. As I could not explain what I was feeling, I did not eat that day because my body simply didn’t want anything. Later that day, I googled, “why do I feel sick from smelling food”, knowing that I wasn’t pregnant at the time. I came across an article stating that I may have become food intolerant, and that my body can naturally change its course in dieting. My body was telling me that it wanted fresh fruit, veggies, and water only. No animal products and all of the other junk that I was consuming. Also, within that day, I came across Mrs. Tabitha Brown’s YouTube channel. Her videos are heaven sent because she informed me and so many others on how to become vegan and that veganism could have been the reason why my body was neglecting everything that I had been eating my entire life. So, I started trying different recipes and mimicking the foods that I had been enjoying my whole life. Being that my dishes turned out to be incredibly delicious, I had to share them with the rest of the world which in fact started my business.

Dluxe, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Charnell Diamond and I am a 2x college graduate from Orlando, FL. I started as a hairstylist in my college dorm room, which later expanded into me having my own salon. Hairstyling isn’t my passion, but something I know how to do extremely well. Once I learned that cooking and preparing for myself and others is really my passion, I retired all of my other endeavors that aren’t as fulfilling as being a chef. I put my full focus into growing as a chef, learning as much as I can daily as a nutritionist so that I can accurately help and inform others, and brought my company Dluxe Vegan to life. What sets me apart from other chefs is my ability to make almost anything vegan and use my dishes to persuade others into healthier eating and/or veganism. The main thing I am proud of is making it this far with my company as I did not see any of my success coming. I want my customers to know that Dluxe Vegan is here to positively change many lives through education and delicious food, and that we’re all family.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Prior to Dluxe Vegan coming about, I also have several other businesses that I have been working on that generate revenue and are able to successfully fund my main focal point, which is Dluxe Vegan. I must say me starting those businesses early on made everything that is happening now with Dluxe Vegan happen effortlessly at the right time, which I would like to call divine timing.

We’d appreciate any insights you can share with us about selling a business.
I wouldn’t say I sold my business, but I did sell my hair salon to a stylist who found a passion in hairstyling. I learned that you shouldn’t jump into endeavors just because you can or have the means to. Without passion, it will not be fulfilling or last in longevity because you wouldn’t be willing to put your all into it due to the lack of passion. You should love your business just as much as you love your significant other and/or family members.
