Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Meghan Lorine. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Meghan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
For years, I suffered in silence through increasingly painful periods. Doctors dismissed my symptoms, telling me it was ‘normal,’ or that it was just ‘part of being a woman.’ But deep down, I knew something was wrong. After countless appointments and even more moments of self-doubt, I decided to take a significant risk for the sake of my health and quality of life: I sought out a specialist who actually listened, one who didn’t brush aside my pain as simply routine. I had my first laparoscopic excision and diagnosis surgery in 2018 to confirm what I had suspected all along—I had endometriosis.
Taking control of my health in that way felt empowering yet terrifying. But I wasn’t done there. After years of building a platform and sharing fashion content, I took an even bigger leap: I decided to share my personal story about endometriosis with my audience. This was daunting. My followers were accustomed to lighthearted, stylish posts—not raw, vulnerable disclosures about my health struggles. I worried about how they might react, but I felt compelled to share my experience.
Opening up turned out to be one of the most rewarding risks I’ve taken. My story resonated with people in ways I could never have predicted. Slowly but surely, I began to grow an organic following of women from all backgrounds and ages, many of whom reached out to say they, too, were battling or suspecting endometriosis. It was eye-opening to see how many of them had felt as alone and misunderstood as I had. I realized that my story was helping shed light on a severely under-researched disease—one that affects one in ten women, yet is so often swept under the rug.
This experience has shown me that sometimes the biggest risks lead to the most profound rewards. By choosing to speak up, I helped foster a community where endometriosis is no longer a hidden struggle, but something we can openly discuss and tackle together. The more we break down the stigma around this disease, the easier it will be for others to advocate for their health, just as I did.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The goal driving my creative journey has evolved beyond fashion to include raising awareness for endometriosis, a cause close to my heart. Through my work, I aim to show that while living with this invisible illness can be incredibly challenging, it doesn’t define us. My hope is to inspire others facing similar struggles to feel empowered and understood, and to foster a community where resilience, style, and self-expression thrive alongside the realities of living with endometriosis.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that everything I put out there had to be “perfect.” In the early days of blogging, there was so much pressure to appear flawless, but through my endometriosis journey, I’ve come to realize that perfection isn’t sustainable—or even relatable. This lesson hit home for me during an event I was working when, just before my first surgery, I experienced a painful ovarian cyst rupture. I felt far from my best, frustrated by the visible bloating, and anxious about how I appeared.
That experience pushed me to write my first blog post acknowledging my health concerns. It was a vulnerable moment, but sharing it made all the difference. Through that post, I was put in touch with the surgeon who would ultimately diagnose my endometriosis and help me begin a path toward relief. Now, I use that experience to remind other women of the importance of seeking proper care. It’s a story that shows authenticity and self-advocacy are far more powerful than any notion of perfection—and I’m grateful to share that lesson with others navigating similar journeys.
