We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Simone. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Simone below.
Simone, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on has to be my upcoming EP, Trauma Bond. This project dives into themes that are deeply personal and universal at the same time, like navigating relationships, resilience, and the process of finding yourself again. The idea for Trauma Bond came to me during a period where I was balancing a lot—between work, the ups and downs of life, and my passion for music, it felt like I was constantly reflecting on how people and experiences shape us, for better or worse.
In each song, I’ve tried to capture real moments and emotions, and the nuances of life, almost like chapters in a story. There’s a bit of vulnerability in putting out work that speaks to darker or heavier experiences, but I think it’s meaningful because it’s honest, and I know people out there will connect with it. To me, Trauma Bond represents growth and resilience, and sharing it feels like giving a piece of myself to listeners who might be going through similar things.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Simone, a recording artist, writer and musician driven by creativity, authenticity, and a deep desire to connect with listeners. My music is about capturing real-life emotions and experiences—delving into themes of love, resilience, and self-discovery. I’ve been consistently putting out music, with songs like “Yin & Yang” and “Mango Margarita,” and I’m gearing up to release my upcoming EP, Trauma Bond, in November. Each song I write speaks to the raw, relatable experiences many people go through, from empowerment to heartbreak, aiming to make listeners feel seen and understood.
My sound stands out because of its honest storytelling, which I think speaks directly to fans’ lives. I want my music to resonate like SZA’s, whose Ctrl album had a huge impact on me when it came out during my freshman year at Cheyney University. That album became a soundtrack for that time in my life, and its lyrics took on new meanings as I grew. That’s exactly the kind of experience I want my music to give to others. I aim to create songs that resonate with listeners and I hope to build a connection that’s both meaningful in the moment and stands the test of time.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One story that comes to mind is the making of Mango Margarita and the video. The song came to me really quickly. I wrote it one night and went to the studio and I had a ball recording it. But this summer, I was in between jobs, and while my dreams were big, my budget was sometimes… not so much. But I couldn’t let that stop the momentum we had going at that point.
Being an independent artist with an independent budget (that definitely has a mind of its own) hasn’t been easy, but it’s been so worth it. The release timeline got pushed back a few times because of issues with the video, but I stuck with it because I’m always going to choose quality over rushing something out. I planned to release it during the summer because I didn’t think people would want to hear me singing about Mango Margaritas in the fall, but I had to make the best of it. Honestly, I’m just humbled that people still showed love for it—even if it came out later than I originally planned. But they always say if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.
