Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adriana Wignall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Adriana, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
At a very young age, I came to know loss, grief, and PTSD all too well after losing my mother. I remember being around 9/10 years old and having a vision to create a center where grieving kids could go to heal and find community.
Throughout my adolescence, I dabbled in the healing arts but it wasn’t until my early 20s that I fully launched into the holistic realm. It felt like an answer to the calling I had put out when I was 10.
Pretty soon, I committed to a consistent yoga practice in addition to receiving regular Reiki treatments and I knew this was my path. In 2017 I received my Reiki Level 1 attunement followed by the completion of my first yoga teacher training in 2021.
By early 2024, I acquired my yoga business and I have dedicated this year to building it to be the community healing center I once envisioned.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! My name is Adriana Wignall. I grew up adventuring in the beautiful mountains of Breckenridge, CO.
I departed the mountains to begin studying my interests with mental health as a Psychology major.
While I was in school, I began my healing journey and took a side route to dabble in the holistic realm- little did I know this would be a rabbit hole I’d never make my way out of!
After receiving Reiki a few times, I felt called to share the benefits I had been experiencing and decided to move forward with my first attunement in 2017. Reiki is directly translated as the “universal life force.” It is a healing energy that is transferred through the practitioner to the client without any personal interference. During the session, this “life force” energy can gradually release and rebalance any blocks that you may be experiencing. Reiki is a tool that can be used to help you rejuvenate into a higher state of being. Immediately after my attunement, I began practicing and the sense of rejuvenation began building.
This was just the beginning.
In 2019, I was first introduced to Kaiut Yoga which sparked a fire within. The method felt so complementary to all the other modalities I had been exploring. With the development of a consistent practice, I was inspired to study with Francisco Kaiut directly to become a certified teacher.
Kaiut Yoga is a very unique approach to yoga. The practice is designed to address the stressful impact of our modern lifestyle on the body and on the nervous system. Unlike many approaches to yoga which focus on stretching muscles, Kaiut Yoga works from the joints to promote improved joint health and general vitality.
A couple years went by as I was teaching at multiple local studios while balancing a full time administrative job. It became clear the sense of alignment I felt with guiding others on their own healing journeys and I made a decision to direct my focus on this path that continued to unfold in front of me.
In early 2024, I had the opportunity of a lifetime and took over as owner of my own yoga business. Since then, it has been my mission to spread waves of healing throughout Boulder and beyond.
CURA Yoga Center is a sacred space dedicated to healing. The primary offering is Kaiut Yoga in collaboration with other modalities to offer a collective wellness center that guides you to live your best life. The word CURA (ku-ruh) is a Portuguese term for healing. My dad and family are rooted in Brazil not far from where the origins of Kaiut Yoga are planted.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Other than training/ knowledge, the most helpful thing for success is authenticity on all fronts. To me, if you truly align with your work/craft/trade, you will never “work” another day in your life. Having an authentic and genuine connection of your own with your craft shines through a sense of vibrancy that would otherwise feel dull.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back, I would absolutely choose the same profession. In fact, the only change I would make would be to choose it sooner!
