We recently connected with Tuti and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tuti , thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I guess it’s kinda hard to pinpoint exactly when I wanted to pursue this artistic path..Music has always been with me from young and even in my teenage years in high school me and my best fiend would make music together and I would hand out mixtapes at school trying to get people to check us out. When I was about 19-20 I started making music on my own and I guess that’s when my own fire started. I was getting a lot of good feedback on instagram and I kinda just went even harder after that.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
To anyone who doesn’t know me , hello to all my name is Tuti , I also go by Jiggy Baby. I’m a singer songwriter whose passion has always been just keeping it real in my music. I guess what would set me apart is I’m just raw with everything I do. You’re going to hear me tell my truth and I don’t feel like I fit in any particular box. I might make a sad RNB song one day , the next I’m making something you wanna dance or turn up too. I think that’s my favorite thing about being a creative. You don’t have to be just one thing you can do it all. I think what I’m most proud of is that I’m just authentically myself, and I won’t sing or write about something that isn’t me or isn’t true.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I feel like I had a lot going on before Covid and when the world shut down I feel like I shut down with it. For some time I stopped creating. Even now I been pretty quiet compared to before. It took some time but I feel like I’m finally in a place where I know that I never got into making music because of how many plays I would get or how many people were watching. I did it for me and I was happy with that. I’m finally ready to step out and put new music out in the world because it’s what makes me happy. I feel like anybody no matter what you do you have to remember why you even started in the first place , and keep doing it for you.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Like most people I just want to make the lives of the people I love a little easier. If I could grant my mother financial freedom and the people I love an opportunity to live a better life I would be the happiest person in the world. Aside from taking care of my loved ones I just want to connect with people. Maybe there’s a certain song that they could relate to and maybe what they thought they could never express become a little easier just with a song.
