Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Moreno. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jessica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Ummmm A journey. It’s been a transformative journey one filled with lessons, growth and intentional choices. Wasn’t a fast transition but rather a gradual evolution of passion and purpose aligning practices.
In the early days, I started as a receptionist, navigating hustle driven decisions just to have my base as a single mother. My drive came from a deep love for creativity and a desire to help others feel confident and recognize their true beauty.
Fast forward, everything changed when I embraced my unique approach and integrated my lifestyle into my work. I realized that true success doesn’t come from chasing trends or endless hustling it comes from deeply connecting with your craft and your clients.
One major milestone will be launching Ella Hair Academy. This step isn’t just offering hair education it’s about sharing my philosophy of intentional artistry. I want to teach others not only technical skills but also how to approach their work with mindfulness and balance.
Looking back, I see that the key steps were finding my niche, building authentic relationships and consistently delivering quality work. If I could have sped up the process, I’d focus earlier on defining what made my work unique and leaning into that fully. Trusting in the value of my approach and sharing it with confidence has made all the difference.
Now, I’m grateful to be living a life where my creative work not only sustains me financially but also fuels my soul. The balance of doing what I love, connecting with others and continuously growing is what makes this journey so rewarding.

Jessica , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m JessMor.Hair, a hair educator, hairdresser and the creator of the soon to launch Ella Hair Academy. My journey into the hair industry started with a passion for creativity and a desire to help others see and feel their true beauty. I began working as a receptionist in a salon, which gave me a behind the scenes look at the industry. As a single mother, I had to make some hustle driven decisions to support my family, and this experience taught me the value of dedication and grit.
Over the years, I developed a specialty in hair color as well as hair extensions. I’m now a traveling hairdresser working between San Diego and Tulum and I integrate wellness, mindfulness and intentional artistry into everything I do. My approach is about creating looks that are not only beautiful but are also a true reflection of each client’s personality and lifestyle.
With Ella Hair Academy, I’m excited to share my philosophy and approach to hair artistry on a deeper level. Ella isn’t just about mastering technical skills, it’s about cultivating emotional artistry and finding a niche that resonates with who you are. My goal is to teach hairdressers efficient color techniques and extensions that save time and elevate their work so they can build businesses that grow in harmony with their lives. I’m also incorporating lessons on business strategy and financial planning to empower stylists to succeed in both their craft and their business.
What sets me apart is my commitment to balancing creativity with intention and helping others achieve success without the endless hustle and reaching burn out. I want who I come in contact with to find fulfillment, creativity and connection in their work. I’m most proud of building a career that aligns with my values and allows me to teach others to do the same.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Society needs to foster environments that value creativity as essential, not just a luxury. This starts with education, encouraging artistic exploration from a young age and integrating arts into core curriculums can help nurture creative thinking and problem sovling skills. This was personally a lesson for me with my children.
Also fostering a culture that values creative work is needed. This means shifting societal perceptions to recognize the impact of art and creativity on mental health and community well being. Supporting local artists, attending events and engaging with creative works helps build a supportive ecosystem. In cities, we commonly now live on screens and lose our ability to naturally engage with other humans.
Collaboration between the creative sector and other industries can open up new opportunities. Actually building relationships with other humans to create true authenticity when businesses and communities invest in creativity, they not only support artists but also enrich society as a whole.
If we think of how we can create an impactful footprint and to contribute meaningfully to the world around us it can really open up beautiful pathways.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the most defining moments in my journey was when I began to shift from the hustle driven mindset to building a life and business that truly aligned with my values. I was caught in the cycle of overworking, trying to juggle being a single mother and making ends meet. While I was passionate about my work, I felt disconnected from the deeper purpose behind it.
The turning point came when I realized that success wasn’t just about how much I could do or how hard I could push. I started to reflect on what truly mattered to me creativity, balance, mindfulness, and a genuine connection with my clients. This led me to integrate these values into my business and brand. Ive been learning to trusting the processes.
