Lilia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

My mission as a fashion stylist goes beyond simply refreshing wardrobes; it’s about helping clients transform their lives and feel empowered. Through my years of experience, I’ve seen how a thoughtfully curated wardrobe can be a catalyst for positive change in both personal and professional lives.

When I start working with new clients, I always begin with a complimentary consultation to understand their true motivations. Often, the need for change isn’t just about a new season or trends. My clients come to me during pivotal moments — whether they’re looking to step up their presence at work, embark on a career shift, or regain confidence in their relationships. These deeper needs create pain points like feeling insecure in their role, struggling with self-esteem, or feeling disconnected from their authentic selves.

The solution I offer is more than styling; it’s a partnership to find a look that reflects who they are and who they want to become. I guide them to discover their style, feel at ease in their own skin, and step out each day with confidence. Seeing the renewed energy and confidence in my clients is what makes this mission so meaningful to me.

I’m Lilia Dolinsky, founder and lead stylist at LiliBelle Style Consultants. My journey into fashion styling began over 25 years ago, combining my European and Fashion Institute of Technology training with New York’s dynamic style scene to create a unique approach to personal styling. At LiliBelle Style, we go beyond trends to provide deeply personalized services that address the true needs of our clients.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

About a year and a half ago, I joined a social media challenge that inspired me to dive into the world of Instagram. Shortly after, I enrolled in a social media course where I learned how to create engaging posts. Since then, I’ve developed a routine of posting daily tips and tricks about fashion. Every morning, I wake up and post a reel, and through that, I feel a true connection with people worldwide.

Building this audience has been an ongoing journey, one that requires staying updated with trends, as fashion is always evolving. My followers come from various parts of the world, which has been incredibly fulfilling and eye-opening, allowing me to reach a broader, more diverse audience. Despite my extensive experience in fashion, social media has challenged me to keep learning. Researching fresh topics for my reels helps me stay relevant and gives me insights into what people want and need from fashion content.

For anyone starting to build a social media presence, my advice is this: be consistent, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to share your knowledge authentically. Even with years of experience, I still find myself learning every day. Sharing my background—from working as a Samplemaker to Patternmaker to Stylist and becoming a Head of Product Development—has helped me offer valuable insights in my reels, such as tips on dressing different body types or finding clothes that fit perfectly through tips how to alter them..

I’m still learning the algorithm, but I’m proud of the progress I’ve made, growing close to 8k followers on Instagram and over 10k across all platforms. Social media can be a powerful tool, and with dedication and a genuine desire to connect, you can build an audience that truly values what you offer.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

The best source of new clients for me has been word-of-mouth referrals. My business began by helping friends get dressed for significant life events, such as milestone birthdays, weddings, and vacation wardrobes. When I officially launched my business, I reached out to those early clients, asking them to recommend my services to their friends and colleagues. This personal approach helped me build a client base that values trust and a personalized touch. My clients have become my greatest advocates, sharing their positive experiences and helping me connect with others who want expert guidance to look and feel their best.
