We were lucky to catch up with Johnathhan Caprietta recently and have shared our conversation below.
Johnathhan , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I grew up in the church and my mom was a worship leader. So every week growing up, I was surrounded by gospel music, jazz bands, and in and out of recording studios. Watching my mom perform and locked in while creating her albums was my favorite thing to do. When she would perform, I could feel her presence in the way she commanded the band and resonated with the audience. It was a surreal feeling for me and it’s a feeling I knew I wanted to experience.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m John Capri an Rnb artist located in Los Angeles California. I love all types of music and I’m versatile. What sets me apart from others is that I do it fully for the joy of creating. Music is ingrained in my soul and it’s my only purpose. I’m most proud that I’ve been able to find my sound and be confident in that. I think many artists tend to doubt themselves, and I have finally gotten to the point where there’s no more doubt and I feel free. I have a project called soul ties that’s out on all platforms. Currently I’m traveling and performing and that’s what I love to do the most. I’m still creating and have so much more music on the way and the cool part about that is they’re all different styles. One thing I would want my supporters to know is that I’m having the most fun I’ve ever had and more timeless music is on the way.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is truly understanding who you are as a person and fully accepting that and falling in love with that. People definitely have a hard time with self acceptance and as a creative, you’re allowing others to see all of you. To live a life, knowing that you’re not pretending to be anyone, but yourself feels amazing.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
If you love, something embrace it.
