We recently connected with Gabriel Rovick and have shared our conversation below.
Gabriel, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
F4D Studio has been in business for 15 years. We have been building a team of creatives to develop our business and bring our ideas to life since the beginning and continue to do so today. We started in a studio in the Rino Creative District and in the past three years we have moved our offices to Golden, Colorado. Upon moving offices the pandemic arrived. The F4D Studio team and I worked hard to establish ourselves in the community of Golden by offering services to industries in need during the pandemic. We also partnered with the Foothills Art Center to be their creative video partner in the town of Golden.
Our mission is to cultivate stories worth telling, not only do we work with our clients to help cultivate stories through marketing, storytelling through photography and video but we recently launched a film festival in town called Stories Worth Telling.
This festival was a project that I had dreamed of for many years and after having a successful film premier in 2021, we decided to expand and invite other Colorado filmmakers to share their work in Golden.
The festival was pieced together in two months, we needed the support of local businesses in town and many talented creators to bring this idea to life. We did just that and our 1st annual festival hosted more than 200 people, 7 films and several musicians at The Buffalo Rose event space in Golden, Colorado.
Gabriel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
F4D Studio is a full-service creative agency headquartered in Golden, Colorado. We curate and produce the highest quality cinematic films, photography, and digital marketing for brands. Serving a broad variety of clients from agencies and corporations to nonprofits and artists, we create content that performs and cultivate stories worth telling.
Our team is highly centered in the outdoor industry but works alongside many brands and nonprofits spanning all over the world.
We have created many documentary film projects highlighting stories we are passionate about. F4D was recently awarded best feature film at the Wasatch Mountain Film Festival for our film, “From the Passenger Seat,” which is an educational adventure film that explores one man’s exceptional life, a heroic two-year battle with ALS and an epic farewell road trip. Through a creative lens, F4D Studio shows what life can be when it is lived with purpose, immobile vigor, and unquenchable thirst for experiences. The film can be seen at www.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Because much of my work is viewed on screen it is important to me to tell stories that resonate. Having opportunities to be a part of people’s lives and help them tell their stories is the most rewarding aspect of my creativity. Many of the subjects of our projects become lifelong friends and I continue to spend time with them and support them well after the projects are complete. I get to foster community and change the lives and perspectives of many people through the stories the F4D team tells.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Our project, “From The Passenger Seat,” is an hour long film that was supported through GoFundMe. We raised close to $16,000 which is not a lot for a four year project. As we were developing the project we were faced with the Covid-19 pandemic and many of our clientele froze their budgets, during this time we buckled down and finished the post production of the film and we were able to share this film with the world. The lessons we learned from the creation of this film were invaluable, we learned to follow your passions, love what you choose to do and create projects that inspire you and the people that get to be a part of the experiences. This project gave us confidence to develop many other short projects and launch the Stories Worth Telling Festival.
