Hi Katterine, thanks for joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.

My focus is the health of the nails rather than the be beautification of these, within the Industry there are what for me are bad practices, all with the intention of making money at all costs and without concern for the health of the client, because yes! our nails need to be taken care of maintain their proper health, at the end of the day clients value this and come back when they see that a true professional is providing the service.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Katterine Anaya, I have 38 years old and I was born in Colombia , with 24 years of experience in the world of the manicure I’m a specialist in advanced techniques, russian manicure and pedicure, polygel, gel and acrylic, etc.
Owner of a prestigious studio in New York, my work has been recognized internationally with several awards in Nail design. As educator I have trained hundreds of professionals, transmitting my passion and knowledge with a meticulous and Human approach.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I learned that social media is a powerful weapon and I decided to use it to my advantage. I responsibly took classes to use them correctly, I dedicate many hours to creating content, I try to collect what is trending and that people like, information, funny content, etc.

Have you ever had to pivot?

I am a nursing technician, I wanted to have another career that would help me in any case, but this is related to my passion for nails, I learned the importance of health and thus also nail health, I am an expert in the cleanliness of my workplace, tools and with my clients, I try to convey the importance of this to my students.
If you really have a passion and you love what you do, never change course, or at least not for long time.
