We were lucky to catch up with Nikki Trout Samantha Capstick recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nikki Trout , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
Samantha Capstick can’t help but love others – it’s her greatest gift. Samantha’s heart for women began when she herself was a teen mom at the age of 18. She spent years struggling, then turned her energy into helping other young women thrive.
Years later, in 2018, Samantha Capstick and Nikki Trout met when their boys played rec baseball together and hit it off right away. Fast forward to 2019, Nikki had a baby girl who was born with cancer. It was a tough and heartbreaking journey, but through it all, Samantha stood by her side. During those challenging years, they realized how much they loved helping moms who were going through hard times—whether it was single moms or moms with sick kids.
After Nikki’s daughter, Sadie, rang the bell to celebrate being cancer-free in 2023, Nikki knew she had a bigger purpose. She told Samantha she was going to quit her job and start a women’s community to support other moms. Samantha was all in!
Their mission? To help adult women build real, healthy, and supportive friendships, and encourage women to show up for each other in meaningful ways. Women NEED community!
In just over a year, they launched the Aligned Mommas Community and a podcast. The success has been absolutely mind-blowing! Their women’s community has grown to thousands, reaching women across Lincoln, Warren, St. Charles, and St. Louis counties. They host monthly in-person socials so women can meet and connect and organize outreach events where they support a woman in need—whether that’s through cleaning her home, hosting food drives, clothing/furniture donations and more.
Their podcast – called Aligned Mommas Podcast – has over 80 episodes featuring inspiring stories from real women who’ve faced tough challenges and come out stronger. It’s a way to remind those going through hard times that they’re not alone, and also to give others insights on how to support the women in their lives who are struggling.
All women are welcome! You do not need to be a mother to be a part of our community. All ages welcome, too!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Nikki and Samantha first started Aligned Mommas to create a safe place for women to meet new friends! Meeting friends as an adult can sometimes be difficult.
They also lead the community to show up for other women in need, friends that step up and actively support eachother.
With that they decided to start a podcast, Aligned Mommas Podcast. Where they interview women who have gone through challenges and ask them how their friends and family could of shown up for them during that hard season.
Aligned Momma Podcast is a unique podcast. Interviewing ordinary everyday people. Showing its listeners that they are not alone in their struggles and teaching them how to show up better for those they love!
Nikki and Samantha believe every woman needs a community of other women to cheer them on, give them words of encouragement, and to do everyday life with! Aligned Mommas creates just that!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth! Sharing our women’s community on the podcasts, hosting monthly socials for the ladies to meet eachother, and monthly outreach missions, where we get a team of ladies together to go love on another women in need in the local area.
This has created a comradery and excitement and people love sharing fun and rewarding events!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal is to help adult women find friends and to teach women how to show up better for each-other. Our heart’s desire thousands and thousands of women who never knew a good friend to finally have one – or many! And that a ripple effect occurs where women start helping more women and this trend continues on – even in the small things.
