We recently connected with Gaby Azorsky and have shared our conversation below.
Gaby, appreciate you joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I have been living my work full-time for a year and a half, part-time 4 years prior “on the side”, and just after the 1st year mark I started being able to support myself as a full-time living. It has been incredibly rewarding to be able to support myself, I am very proud of this semi-recent accomplishment. After creating many different offerings over the years (one on one sessions with clients, group courses, monthly membership communities, a podcast or two), all of them being heart-led, they each have brought lessons and blessings that I’ve brought with me to the next one.
A few steps that would have helped me sooner would have been establishing a profit and loss statement early on, even if you don’t have much income or expenses yet, and not putting any pressure on my practice supporting me full time. Having other work coming in, freelance from my previous career and gig-jobs, were incredibly helpful in supporting me in the meantime. Not being afraid of that.
Gaby, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a healing arts practitioner and medicine woman weaving together Reiki, meditation, clairvoyance, and folk herbalism. To me, this essentially means that I am a clear mirror to be present in holding space with my clients, reflecting back to them whatever they need with utmost compassion, love, and safety in the process.
I see clients one on one and in my monthly membership container, The Flower Portal, and I also host Spiral Deeper, my podcast established in February 2024. I feel like what is most special about what I do, is getting to be in deep listening and relationship with my clients — holding their hand, metaphorically, through whatever life transition they may be in. It is gratifying to be a safe place of trust, healing, and warmth.
I love having conversations with guests on Spiral Deeper; it’s amazing to see how many hearts these conversations have touched.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Notion has been amazing for organizing my plans and templates, I use it for everything and highly recommend. I like Flodesk for creative email-sends that are intuitive to build and not-sticky to use, and Zencastr for podcast recording. Also – MENTORSHIP with people you look up to! Pay them for their time so that you can truly be in reciprocal relationship with them and learn.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
A few lesser-known that I love are the Hello Hearth membership by my dear friend Sierra McDaniel of Subliminal Shift (https://hellohearth.uscreen.io/) and the Business for Aligned Women podcast (https://sigmawmn.com/podcast).
