We were lucky to catch up with Noah Conner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Noah, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I was on the outside looking in for a long time. I always played music and was passionate about attending concerts and festivals. However, I guess I had a lot of growing up to do to realize life is just about doing what makes you feel alive. While I wish I started the journey a bit sooner, I don’t regret anything I went through on the way to this life I live now.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Like a lot of people pursuing music as a career; my love for music started as a young child. My mom put me in piano lessons at 4, then my dad got me a drum kit at 5. I was in my first band at 12 and spent my teen years attending shows almost every weekend. I thought having a traditional career would set me up later in life, but I made it to my mid-20s before feeling passionless. It wasn’t until a random. jam session with an old friend in 2023 that changed the trajectory of my life forever. I finally saw my place in music and knew I wanted to surround myself with it, no matter what that meant career wise. I think what sets Canyon Drive apart is our shared life experiences and musical influences that blend into something that’s hard to categorize. We’re proud of the music we make, we produce it all ourselves, and we care a lot about putting meaning in our songs and concepts.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to make music that not only reaches, but resonates with, and inspires people all over the world. I want to play music in a field full of people and just feel alive.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Society naturally pumps out tons of creative energy from all the highs and lows of life in modern society. Just living in the world, we all have desires to share our take on what’s happening around us. We do that through music and other art mediums. Just create, don’t wait for everything to line up perfectly. Sketch on paper, make a collage with a magazine and a glue stick, record a song on your phone. Your first project won’t be a masterpiece; just keep going, and try to get a little better everyday.
