Alright, Becca thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Please tell us about starting your own firm and if you’d do anything different knowing what you know now.

I am still working on establishing my own firm but I am definitely more independent now career-wise than I ever have been. I think what is most important is to make sure you are always learning. I have a couple mentors in my life that have taught me so much about interior design and business as a whole. I speak to them weekly if not daily and I really feel like I learn something each time.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I started in real estate a few years ago and after reaching a goal I had given myself I was ready to move onto something else. I have always had a passion for interior design. I started working at a boutique design studio near where I lived and gained a lot of experience. After a year or so I moved onto working on projects alone as well as partnering with well established designers. I absolutely love renovations and new construction. It is so fun to see something completely transform into a space my client’s love. I think one thing that sets me apart as an interior designer is my knowledge of construction and project management, it makes everything so much easier. I am proud of every project I have done, every one is different and they have all turned out even better than expected.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Word of mouth! Building relationships with clients/people is so important if you want them to keep you in mind in the future.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I am working on mine, my following is definitely low i think its about 1,000 but I will say I have gotten clients from it! I think consistency is key, it is definitely something I am going to work on. But posting as much as you can of your work and reminding people what you do is important.
