Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Carmen Isabel Harris. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Carmen Isabel, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I am hoping to build an educational background around taxes, budgeting, and entrepreneurship not only for us adults but more importantly for our children. I think when I am gone people will remember me for the knowledge that I hold and the eagerness to teach everyone. I hope to be remembered as someone who started a major trend in our school districts of adding a curriculum that teaches our children about growth and opportunities.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello my name is Carmen Isabel Pacheco Harris I was born in New York, raised in California and now reside in Texas. I am the 2nd child out of 4 of us. I am married to the best business partner one could have and have two beautiful stepdaughters.
In high school I was in a program called Academy of Finance where I knew that when I grew up this was the industry that I wanted to be in however when I graduated high school, I went the total opposite of what I knew was best for me. I went to college to become a teacher because I loved teaching as well. I could not get into it and then my mother passed away in 2005 in which I then dropped out of college. My aunt took us to Dallas TX to begin a new life.
When I first got to Texas, I was still uncertain of what I wanted to do in life. I worked at Marshalls up until my aunt got me an interview at JP Morgan Chase in the short sale department. I finally went back to school for project management, accounting and business management, I was determined to get into a position that used these skills sets. One day I decided that I was going to start to file my own taxes since I was learning about it in accounting. I took a course and study some videos and did my own taxes. Family and friends got a whiff of me doing this and asked me if I could do theirs. I would do theirs for a low fee, a home cook meal of my favorite dishes or a gift card. In 2016 I met my best friend, my husband, my business partner. We would discuss goals and business plans. He pushed me over the years to build a business not a hobby.
When COVID hit and we were sent home I knew then that I needed to make better decisions for our life, and I took advantage of being home and working. I started off as a subcontractor for other tax companies as I built my clientele but my husband kept pushing me to be better and to get all my credentials so I can open Fair Enough Financial & Notary Services LLC. In 2022 we officially became legit, and we went from 25 clients to over 300 clients to date.
I am proud to say that even though our clientele has grown I am still able to be personable with every client. Our company isn’t just about filing taxes but educating our clients. We offer business courses on top of helping start the process of becoming a owner. We sell merchandise such as custom t-shirts, yard signs, cups, hats, notebooks and so much more. We offer in person, mobile and notary services. For those who are selling or buying properties we offer our signing agent services to notarize your documents.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I would say my kind, caring soul and the knowledge that I show when I come across new clients. I take pride in the services I offer and make sure that my clients are happy. Most financial companies are about quantity not quality and don’t care to be personable.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Alot of people don’t realize that you can’t fund your business off the back by a business loan. Most banks or companies want to see profitability. I worked a full-time job and budget to ensure that I had the capital I would need to not only start the business but to keep it afloat.
