Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lo’Reece Chisholm. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lo’Reece, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
To be honest, I am one hundred percent okay with the time frame that I decided to get started in my business. I don’t feel as if I should have started sooner, or later; I started exactly when God wanted me to.
The reason I say this is because, owning a skincare and aromatherapy business was never in my plans, thoughts, or dreams; my plan was to become a veterinarian.
I’ve realized, no matter the plans we have set out for our lives, God is the final decision maker! His plans for us are always greater than anything we can think, do, or imagine.
Beyond Bodie’s time is now. Not sooner or later, but RIGHT NOW!
When I look back on my experiences, from the very beginning to the present, there is absolutely nothing I would change… nope, nothing.
Every step, every hurdle, every setback, disappointment, frustration, and failure, it was, and still is, a part of the process!
It’s the only way to rise and grow!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Absolutely! Well, hello everyone, my name is Lo’Reece, I am a native San Diegan, and a small business owner of a skincare and aromatherapy business called Beyond Bodie. I am also a mother to two handsome young men, LaMarcus and Brycen, and wife to a courageous first responder.
As mentioned previously, my plan was to become a veterinarian, but once I became a mother, all of that changed. My priorities began to shift, and while my love for animals remained, my interest in pursuing a typical career path grew less and less.
All I knew was that whatever path I had decided to take, it needed to be one that would allow me the freedom to be present with my boys; and Beyond Bodie has given me that freedom!
You see, I learned early on that both of my boys had a skin condition that left them very dry, itchy, bumpy, and sometimes red (eczema). Their doctor had placed them both on multiple steroidal creams. I didn’t like the thought of them being on steroidal creams, so I began searching and researching through various skincare brands, looking for products that would hopefully offer relief to their skin condition.
I ended up finding one product that worked well for them.
I’m sure you all know the saying, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Well, it wasn’t broke (there was nothing wrong with the product that we were using). It was just time for me to create something of my own; something for them!
Through testing, trial and error, I had finally created something that my boys’ skin didn’t have any adverse reactions to. Something that their skin actually responded very well to. With great observation, and deep consideration, I decided to launch “Beyond Bodie Skincare and Aromatherapy”, a more natural approach to skin hydration”.
Thus far, Beyond Bodie’s skincare line includes lotions, skin moisturizing oils, bar soaps, body scrubs, bath bombs, bubbles, and bath salts, with more products to come in the near future!
Each product is carefully handcrafted and made in small batches, with great attention to detail, and without compromising quality – aspects often compromised when products are mass-produced.
Beyond Bodie is also a faith-based business, unique in its culture and focus. Our goal is not only to leave you feeling good on the outside (with our products), but on the inside as well (with Bible verses and other positive quotes that are placed on the back of our product labels)!
Our aim is to help build confidence, and courage, as well as instilling self-worth to all who come in contact with our products.
With so much negativity going on in our world today, if we can help spread love, happiness, positivity, and motivation, then we have completed our mission.”

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
For me, the most effective strategy for growing my customer base has definitely been through conducting popup shops, attending vendor events, and farmers markets.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Well, I am still building! You should never stop building! There are always more people to reach! Beyond Bodie is on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, and through observation, our YouTube channel is doing the best!
All platforms are definitely different in their own way; but with YouTube, we have been able to tap in and figure out exactly what type of content is most valuable to our viewers, and align with our branding.
One big piece of advice that I can give you when it comes to building your social media presence would have to be… Figure out who your target audience is.
You may find that you have more than one, and that is totally okay. When you find them, speak their language! Taylor your content to the things of their interest; your objective is to draw them in. Focus on serving and creating content around those individuals!
You want to also stay clear from having the mindset “My products or services are for everybody”, although this may be a true statement; you can’t think that way. Not everyone is going to be drawn to, attracted to, or vibe with you. When you adopt that way of thinking, you ultimately end up talking to “nobody”, and that’s definitely not what you want.
