Dorothy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?

Yes and often work vacations
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
The idea of Mo’z Sweet Treats started from an outgoing, energetic individual who loved to create homemade treats for friends and family. Mo’z was established in 2021. After watching Bizarre Foods the ice cream trike was born. July 2022 was the first debut of the trike! Contacting the Illinois Small Business Development Center for the Metro East at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with the help from Joann Di Maggio with establishing this new business venture. The Riverbend Growth Association and Alton Main Street was a huge help with Mo’z getting established in the community. After being discussed and highly viewed laws and regulations was changed for Mo’z which helped Mo’z to be established as the first non-motorized pedal ice cream tricycle business in Madison County Illinois. Mo’z makes homemade Ice-cream, ice cream pushpops, real fruit icys, Ice-cream sandwiches, real fruit frozen lemonades! We have our Fried chicken ice cream. Mo’z just recently started offering candied Fruit! Mo’z has been the trailblazer for change for entrepreneurs to think outside the box! Finally in 2024 Mo’z has been established as a food truck.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Mo’z was invited to do the Alton Expo for the first time this year, but the catch was I could not do Ice-cream or lemonades. That’s when my candied fruit was established and it took off like lightning.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Funding and capital is a a joke in the small business community! I learned that those words are taboo. I funded my business the good ole fashion way by working and using my own savings.
