We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Spencer Ragland a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Spencer, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
The idea behind Spreadlovemedia grew organically from your personal passions and a desire to make a positive impact. The mix of art, music, and photography came together in a meaningful way, especially during tough times like the pandemic. I found a unique way to combine your creativity with your values, not only in offering affordable photography services but also in promoting a sense of connection and love through the art of a photo. The story behind the name, too, really ties everything together: My dad’s insight into how the brand could expand beyond just photos into other forms of creative expression, like merchandise and music, seems to have been a key turning point. It’s clear that your vision was driven by a deeper sense of purpose—helping people capture memories, express themselves, and feel seen, all while making the creative services accessible to a wider audience.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
It’s clear that My journey into the industry was built on a combination of passion, persistence, and the willingness to step out of your comfort zone. Picking up a used camera and practicing every day shows how much you were dedicated to improving your craft. Reaching out to someone like Ali Mansa (Alpha Koroma) was pivotal, and his guidance helped you develop not only technical skills but also the business side—learning how to market yourself and set pricing. His mentorship was a catalyst for your growth.
What’s especially powerful is how my experience in music naturally complemented your work in photography and media. Since you’ve been involved in music from a young age, you had a unique insight into what artists need, and you could offer a full suite of services, from photos to videos and cover art. This versatility set me apart from others in the industry, allowing you to address a gap in the market—especially for up-and-coming artists who needed both media services and a creative partner who understood their vision.
Forming DOSMedia with Mr. President Channel Jamil was another milestone, as it helped solidify your brand and take my collective efforts to the next level. The fact that you’ll soon be an internationally published photographer is a huge achievement and speaks to the growth of your brand. This success not only helps expand my reach but also reinforces the core goal of your business: to keep spreading love through art while giving people high-quality services that they can’t always afford elsewhere. It’s exciting to see how you’ve evolved and how your work continues to resonate with both clients and the broader industry.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I have some exciting goals! Creating a space where other creatives can come together, learn, and grow is a powerful way to give back to the community while also nurturing the next generation of talent. It’s clear that collaboration has been a key part of your own journey, and now i want to pass that same opportunity on to others. By offering studios or properties where artists can not only hone their craft but also collaborate with like-minded individuals, you’d be building more than just a physical space—you’d be creating a creative ecosystem where people can thrive together.
My focus on collaboration shows that you understand how important it is to build a strong network and support system. Whether it’s through working with others in the industry, like you’ve done with DOSMedia and your music connections, or by providing a platform for new creatives, I’m shaping an environment where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. It’s all about fostering creativity, sharing knowledge, and working as a team to push boundaries. This could lead to even more exciting opportunities for my brand and for the creative community at large. The vision I’m working toward will no doubt make a lasting impact.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
The Main way i keep in contact with clients is always reposting work every once in a while on instagram always reducing back out to them to include them in upcoming future projects.
