Hi KaLon, thanks for joining us today. When you were first starting out, did you join a firm or start your own?
My journey into the financial services industry began in June 2022 when I earned my Life Insurance License in Tennessee. This marked the start of my passion for helping others navigate their financial futures. As I gained experience, I pursued additional non-residential licenses across several states, including Mississippi, Michigan, Texas, and Ohio.
Initially, I worked under a company, which provided me with valuable insights and experience as a Life Insurance Agent. However, as I grew more confident in my skills and vision, I realized that I wanted to establish my own independent insurance agency. With the support of several business partners who guided me along the way, I took the leap and launched my own independent financial service agency, KLH Financial PLLC, in May 2024.
Looking back, I believe choosing to start my own firm was the right decision. It has allowed me to create a business that aligns with my values and goals, and I’m excited to continue building it in the years to come.

KaLon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is KaLon L. Hailey, and my journey began in public service, where I dedicated over ten years to contributing to my community. This foundation of service deeply influenced my transition into the financial services industry. My path to becoming a Independent Life Insurance Agent/Broker was sparked by my curiosity and research into the field. One pivotal moment occurred when my mother informed me about an opportunity to pursue this career through my aunt. Seizing that chance, I earned my Life Insurance License in Tennessee on my first attempt, opening the door to a fulfilling career where I could truly make a difference in the lives of others.
Now, as the owner of KLH Financial PLLC, I offer a comprehensive range of products and services designed to enhance my clients’ financial security. I specialize in Whole Life Insurance, Term Life Insurance, Mortgage Protection Insurance, Indexed Universal Life Insurance, Annuities, Key Person Insurance, and much more. Additionally, I am a Commissioned Notary Public and Remote Online Notary in Tennessee, with plans to become a Loan Signing Agent and now a Independent Field Inspector. These qualifications empower me to assist my clients not only with life insurance policies but also with essential notarization services, ensuring their financial matters are handled with care and professionalism.
What sets me apart is my commitment to reliability, trustworthiness, and integrity. I take pride in being a resource for my community, helping individuals and families navigate their insurance needs and secure their financial futures. Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met my business partner through a serendipitous encounter on TikTok, like many of us do in today’s social media-driven world. While scrolling through my feed, I came across a Life Insurance Agent/Broker who was sharing insightful information about the industry. Intrigued by his perspective, I decided to follow him, and soon discovered that I could set up a face-to-face Zoom meeting to learn more about the independent broker side of the business.
After scheduling the meeting, I connected with him, and what started as a simple discussion quickly blossomed into a friendship. During our conversation, he introduced me to another individual who would become my business partner. This connection proved to be pivotal, allowing me to pivot my career and ultimately achieve significant success as an insurance agency owner.
Reflecting on this experience, I’m incredibly grateful for the role that social media and networking played in my journey. Without that initial interaction on TikTok, I might not have found the invaluable partnership I have today, nor the additional ten plus business partners I’ve gained in the industry since then. It’s a testament to the power of connection in the digital age, and I’m thankful for the opportunities it has opened up for me.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I first launched my insurance agency, I was filled with apprehension and uncertainty, as I was venturing into uncharted territory. However, fueled by my determination and a commitment to educate myself, I dove into extensive research and sought guidance from my new business partner. This combination of effort and support helped me successfully establish KLH Financial PLLC from the ground up.
In those early days, when challenges seemed overwhelming and doubt crept in, I reminded myself of the hard work I had invested and the passions that drove me. I was determined to make KLH Financial a respected name in both the industry and my community. Instead of succumbing to fear, I focused on the knowledge I had gained and the support system around me, knowing that we were not just going to survive—we were going to thrive.
Throughout this journey, I’ve learned that every obstacle we faced was an opportunity for growth. The confidence and backing from my community, friends, and business partners reinforced my belief that everything happens for a reason. I am deeply grateful to God for guiding me and sustaining me as the owner of this company. Today, I stand proud of how far we’ve come and excited for what lies ahead.
