We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lanaesya Burrell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lanaesya below.
Alright, Lanaesya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally was during a pivotal moment in 2023 at Dreamcon, a convention I attended with my online friends. Up until that point, streaming was more of a hobby for me, something I enjoyed doing on the side. But Dreamcon changed everything.
Being surrounded by other content creators, especially in panels where they shared their journeys, was an eye-opener. I saw firsthand the passion and hard work they poured into their craft, and it made me realize that this could be more than just a pastime for me. It wasn’t just about playing games or posting beauty content—it was about building something meaningful, something that could inspire others.
What really hit home was seeing groups like RDC and Somebros—creators who looked like me, who shared the same love for gaming, and who built something incredible with their friends. Watching them flourish, bringing their vision to life as a collective, made me think, “Why not me? Why not us?” It sparked a conversation between my friends and me about how we could do the same. That’s when the idea for FLVR, our girl content creator group, was born.
Dreamcon wasn’t just a fun experience—it was the moment I realized that I could turn my love for gaming, beauty, and content creation into a serious career. It gave me the confidence to take that leap and invest in myself, and now, with FLVR, we’re on a journey to build something special, just like the creators who inspired us.

Lanaesya, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I first got introduced to content creation during the pandemic, thanks to my long-time best friend Cleo. She invited me to a girl Discord server, where I started connecting with people in the space, though I wasn’t as active at first due to work commitments. Around 2021-2022, I was able to engage more and really got to know the community. It was through this community that I met Austin, a consistent Twitch streamer, who showed me how the platform worked and how to navigate the content creation space. His passion and the fun he had while streaming inspired me to give it a try.
One day, I decided to hit the live button, and because of the support from my friends who were always there, chatting with me during streams, it felt like a natural transition. It wasn’t just about the games—I quickly realized it was about creating a space where people could come, relax, and feel a positive vibe. That’s what drove me to continue.
Now, I’ve grown beyond just streaming for fun. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, especially in being able to give back through charity streams. One of my proudest moments was partnering with Games for Love, an organization dedicated to helping hospitalized children through games. Across two charity streams, I raised over $1,000 for their cause, which was incredibly rewarding.
Like many content creators, I’ve faced challenges along the way, especially when it comes to balancing real life with the need for consistency. There have been times when it’s hard to stay in a positive mindset, but for me, the most important thing is to ensure that I’m bringing good energy to my streams. I want my content to be a place where people can come to relax after a long day, laugh, or even get inspired. Whether it’s through gaming, makeup, or any of the other things I share, my goal is always to uplift.
What sets me apart is the combination of gaming, beauty, and positivity that I bring into my content. With blending the two I now go by the saying ‘The girl’s fave girl blending beauty and gaming’ because I am very passionate about the two. They have both made such an impact on my life from as a kid with mostly gaming being a fun escape and big factor in my life to as my development from a young girl to now the woman I want to see myself as when it comes to the confidence makeup and beauty have inspired in me. I’ve worked hard to build a space that’s not only fun and creative but also encouraging for others. Expanding to other platforms like YouTube and TikTok has been a key part of my growth, and I’ve learned that consistency is everything. Seeing the results from my dedication has been one of the main motivating factors in pushing forward.
At the end of the day, I want my followers to know that my brand is all about creating a space where they can feel good, get inspired, and connect—because that’s what content creation did for me when I started, and it’s what I hope to do for others.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media was a gradual process that started with simply being myself, as cliche as that sounds. Before I got into content creation, I wasn’t really into social media. I’d post something every few months, but that was about it. However, when I started streaming, I became more comfortable presenting my real-life self in the digital space. That authenticity resonated with people who naturally gravitated towards me, and that’s what slowly helped me build an audience.
As I took content creation more seriously, I began thinking about the kind of audience I wanted to attract. Initially, my content was very gamer-focused, which drew in more of a male audience. But I also love beauty and makeup, and I wanted to connect with more women who share those interests. To shift that balance, I started intentionally showing more of my beauty side while also playing games that appeal to a more feminine audience, like cozy games such as Stardew Valley, The Sims, and Fields of Mistria. I’ve definitely seen a shift in my audience as I’ve put that out there.
My advice for anyone starting out on social media is to be your authentic self. The people who are going to resonate with you will find you. The online world is huge and diverse, and there’s a space for everyone. If you don’t see someone like you out there yet, that’s even more of a reason to put yourself out there—someone might be looking for exactly what you offer.
Another important piece of advice is to have a clear goal, mission, and purpose when building your presence. Knowing who I wanted to cater to helped me focus and gave me clarity when creating content. It’s much easier to build a strong community when you know the type of people you’re trying to reach and what you’re offering them. So, stay true to yourself and keep your vision in mind!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is satisfying my inner child. Growing up, gaming was always my safe space—a place where I could decompress and feel happy. I also spent hours watching beauty gurus and gaming YouTubers who inspired me and brought so much joy into my life. Now, to be in a position where I can combine both passions and share them with others feels like a full-circle moment. It’s not just about playing games or doing makeup—it’s about doing something that truly makes me happy while also bringing that same joy to others.
What makes it even more fulfilling is using my platform to give back. Before content creation, I worked in the customer service industry, and while it paid the bills, I never felt like I was making a real difference. But through content creation, especially with things like charity streams, I’ve been able to contribute in ways that truly matter. I’m not just getting a paycheck—I’m connecting with people, creating a space where they can feel uplifted, and making an impact through causes I care about. That sense of purpose is what makes this journey so rewarding for me.
