Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Hedras Ramos Sr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hedras, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear you experience with and lessons learned from recruiting and team building.
As an Independent Producer and Talent, my business has been mostly one-man-band, with the exception of a secretary in the earlier years, who was doing talent booking, invoicing, calls, and other small tasks for me.
But going into the core of my business, due to the extensive nature of my work in the audio/video field, I’m always hiring talents who are essential to a particular job, or when this one is beyond my expertise or available time, these professionals which include VOs, Singers, Mastering Engineers, Graphics/Web Developers, Video Editors, etc. have worked with me with the highest standard of quality you can think of.
I’m a network builder by nature, and I’m always finding new ways to recruit and enhance my team in order to offer the very best results for the client in a sustainable way. I’ve been doing this for over 25 years and this has been a great source of immense satisfaction. Knowing that you have delivered the very best of you and that clients trust you and love your work is priceless.
If I were to start all over again, I would bring working in the video field into the equation from day one. I guess being a Musician hindered me somehow from being able to see the A/V world as I see it now.
However, I’m happy to enjoy the journey knowing that my steps have been led by God and his perfect timing is the right time for me to grow and expand to other areas.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I got into the Audio Production business initially because I’m a musician (guitar/bass player), and with the passing years I became a Producer, mostly of albums for artists/bands, then without me realizing it, I became a Producer of Radio & TV commercials. When I started as a Producer in the Advertising field around 25 years ago, I worked closely for many years with the Creative Directors of top agencies who would choose the VO talent and would book the audio recording session at my studio through the agency’s producer, with the passing years so many things changed, and nowadays I work more and more with direct clients, and of course, I still work with advertising agencies as I used to more than 2 decades ago.
As a Bilingual Producer (English/Spanish), Musician, Audio Engineer, Audio/Video Editor, and a few other things that I can do like voice-overs, subtitling, translation, captions, etc., my goal is to be a One-Stop-Solution for clients who have audio/video needs or want to promote their brand/products using audio and video, which often times spills over to other areas like web/graphic design, and translation.
I’m very honored by being surrounded by amazing talents in multiple disciplines that allow me to deliver top-notch results for my clients and this is like fuel that keeps me going because I truly love my profession and am passionate about what I do. I just love delivering results and solving my client’s needs so they can have a material that is ready to be aired, or used on the internet or internally.
One of the advantages that I offer to my clients is the fact that I’m fully bilingual, and with a Spanish population growing more and more having your material produced in both languages in the same place at the same time is a time saver and also allows for a more well-interconnected material that communicates the message 100% accurately in both languages.
I never forget the words of one of my best clients who at that time was a Creative Director at an international BBDO branch, “we are the best because we always work with the best”, those words still resonate in my mind and are an integral part of my business credos.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Back in the ’90s and the early ‘2000s when jingles were still popular I was producing a lot of jingles and commercials in my home country, but suddenly things began to change with new Producers coming into the scene and younger Creative Directors that were favoring some of their friends, it was a mix of several things resulting in me having less and less work to the point that I had to close my commercial studio and start working from home (a thing that now with the pandemic has resulted in an advantage because I’ve been working online for so many years now) those were desperate times that made me reinvent myself and compelled me to extend my reach to other countries where it turned out to be a complete blessing because this later approach broadened my vision in many ways and allowed me to grow in many areas of my personal and business life, and this happened just because some agency producers and creative directors gave me a ‘no’. In a way, I’m thankful for that because that was like fuel to my tank that helped in some way to bring me where I’m now. In the end, all things work together for the good of those who love God, and that’s what happened, just like the verse says. I guess, there are stages of life (that seem bad at first glance) that we have to go through, but they were designed to bring the very best of us with a purpose, and the purpose was to do us good.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As a Musician and Composer, to play on stage in front of a huge crowd that is chanting your songs is the ultimate reward. As a Producer and Voice-Over, watching your work or hearing your VO work on national TV in the greatest country in the world is just beyond satisfaction and gives you the assurance that you’re going in the right direction and that you have to keep going.
