We were lucky to catch up with Adeyinka Otunba recently and have shared our conversation below.
Adeyinka , appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
While I haven’t yet transitioned to earning a full-time living from my creative work, I’ve started to see meaningful progress. Early on, it was more about sharing my journey and connecting with others than generating income. However, through consistency and a growing understanding of my audience, I’ve had opportunities to collaborate with brands and have done a few gifting collaborations. Recently, I earned my first significant income from creating content, which felt like a major milestone in my journey.
The process wasn’t instant, and it took time to find my voice and build a community. One key step was sharing more personal stories, which helped me connect with my audience on a deeper level. I also began exploring different ways to monetize, such as partnerships and collaborations, which opened doors to income opportunities.
If I could have accelerated the process, I might have focused earlier on building a business strategy around my content. That said, I appreciate the organic nature of my growth, and each step forward brings me closer to my goal of doing this full-time.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m passionate about creating meaningful content that revolves around motherhood, family, and lifestyle. My journey into this space began as I sought ways to balance my personal life with the demands of motherhood, while maintaining my interests in creativity and fashion. As a mother who has experienced both loss and the joy of new life, these deeply personal events have shaped my perspective and approach to the work I do, allowing me to connect authentically with my audience.
I focus on producing content that makes life easier for families, from simplifying household tasks to providing fun, educational, and nourishing food ideas. The balance between parenting and personal style is something I explore, especially through my content about raising happy, healthy children while still making time for yourself as a parent.
What sets me apart is the combination of motherhood experience, loss, and renewal, and a unique understanding of the modern family’s needs. My work addresses practical challenges like time management, family organization, and creating joyful moments amid the busyness of life. Whether it’s through videos, personal stories, or helpful resources, I offer a mix of inspiration and actionable solutions to help families thrive.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built around my content, where I empower parents to find harmony in their personal and family lives. My hope is that my work resonates with others who are looking for that balance between nurturing their families and staying true to themselves.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, my creative journey is guided by a mission to empower and inspire families, especially parents, to find balance and joy in their lives. Having experienced both the highs and challenges of motherhood, I want to help others navigate these experiences while staying true to themselves. My content aims to show that it’s possible to nurture your family, embrace your personal style, and create memorable moments without feeling overwhelmed.
At its core, my goal is to offer practical solutions and inspiration that simplify family life, while also encouraging self-care and personal expression. Whether it’s through sharing tips on managing a busy household, or creating content that helps parents feel seen and supported, I want my audience to feel like they can thrive both as individuals and as families. That’s what drives me every day.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media has been a gradual and organic process. When I first started, I wasn’t focused on the numbers, but more on sharing content that was meaningful to me—stories about motherhood, family life, and the balance between parenting and personal style. It took some time to find my voice and understand what resonated most with my audience, but once I began sharing more personal, authentic stories, I noticed a stronger connection forming.
The key turning point was when I became more consistent with my posting schedule and made an effort to engage with my followers. I started focusing on content that offered value—whether that was helpful tips, uplifting messages, or relatable stories. This helped me build trust and foster a supportive community. Collaborations with brands also helped grow my reach, and it’s been exciting to see the audience slowly grow through these efforts.
For anyone just starting to build their social media presence, my biggest piece of advice is to stay authentic and consistent. Don’t be afraid to show your true self, and don’t chase trends that don’t align with your message or personality. Your audience will connect with your unique story and perspective, so let that shine through. Also, engaging with your community is crucial—respond to comments, ask questions, and create a dialogue. Building an audience takes time, but with patience and authenticity, you’ll attract people who truly value your content.
Lastly, don’t get discouraged by slow growth. Focus on the quality of your connections rather than the quantity. Over time, those who appreciate your content will help spread the word, and your audience will grow organically.
