We were lucky to catch up with Victoria Outley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Victoria, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind my mission really stems from my own experience as a mom. I’ve realized firsthand how easy it is for moms to lose themselves while taking care of everyone else. We’re expected to be everything for our families, but that often comes at the cost of our own self-care, confidence, and even sense of beauty.
For years, I found myself in that space—feeling like I had to sacrifice my own well-being for the sake of those I love. But I realized that nurturing others doesn’t mean neglecting yourself. In fact, I believe you can’t truly care for others unless you take care of yourself first. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
That’s what fuels my mission as a makeup artist: to help moms reconnect with themselves through beauty and self-care. Over the past few years, I’ve connected with many moms, learning their stories, understanding their struggles, and helping them rediscover their confidence and sense of self. I’m here to flip the script, showing that self-care isn’t selfish—it’s necessary for us to thrive.

Victoria, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the beauty business after being surrounded by it my whole life. My mom was a hairstylist, and watching her connect with clients inspired me to explore this creative industry. I saw firsthand how beauty could be a way to uplift and empower people, and I knew I wanted to do the same. Plus, in this field, the sky’s the limit when it comes to creativity and growth.
I offer luxury onsite makeup services for all kinds of people and events—whether it’s a wedding, a mommy makeover, or even mortuary makeup, I’m there to provide a personalized touch. My philosophy is all about enhancing natural beauty and adding a little razzle dazzle to what my clients already possess. Every service is customized, from walking a mom through an everyday look that fits her lifestyle to offering full classes with a curated makeup kit, so she doesn’t have to worry about product selection or application.
What sets me apart is my deep care for each client’s unique needs. For example, if a mom wants a quick, everyday look, I’ll take the time to understand her lifestyle, how much time she has for her routine, the features she wants to highlight, and the overall look she’s going for. It’s a full-service experience tailored to each person’s life.
I’m most proud of how I’ve built a fulfilling career doing something I love while making meaningful connections. It’s incredibly rewarding to help someone feel confident and beautiful, knowing that self-care is at the heart of it. My brand is about empowering people to embrace their beauty and feel confident in their own skin, and that’s something I want all my clients and followers to remember.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media came down to two key things: consistency and networking. I made it a priority to post regularly and engage with my followers. Responding to comments, sharing my knowledge, and being present helped me create an active and engaged community. But it wasn’t just about posting—I also made a point to connect with other professionals in the industry, like fellow makeup artists, photographers, and other beauty service providers. That network allowed me to reach more people and build relationships within the industry.
Engaging with others’ content was equally important. I didn’t just post my own work—I made sure to comment on and share posts where I had valuable insights to add. This helped me connect with new audiences and establish myself as a trusted voice in the beauty and self-care space.
For anyone just starting to build their social media presence, I’d say the key is to be consistent and stay engaged. Post regularly, but also take the time to respond to comments, network with others in your field, and share content that showcases your knowledge. Building genuine connections with your audience and your peers is the foundation for growing a strong, loyal following.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When it came to funding my business, I didn’t have a big pool of money to start with—I just started. It might sound crazy, but I began with what I could afford: buying affordable makeup, brushes, and products. As I practiced and honed my skills, my clientele began to grow, and that’s what helped fund my business over time. Alongside that, I was working full-time, so I took a portion of my income and invested it into my dream.
I always tell people, contrary to what’s often portrayed, you don’t need thousands of dollars to start a business. You can start small, and there’s real value in humble beginnings. As my business improved, I was able to pour more into it, continually reinvesting in better products, tools, and services. It’s all about taking consistent steps forward, building slowly but steadily.
