We recently connected with Rodney Hughes and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rodney thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful, I believe it takes a strong foundation in faith, discipline, and a willingness to serve. As a Christian, I’ve learned that doing business with God at the forefront is entirely different from trying to do it on my own. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” This verse has been a guiding principle for me.
One story that illustrates this came during the early stages of Harrison Hughes Enterprise. I faced numerous challenges, from securing clients to balancing finances. But through prayer and trust in God, opportunities came when I least expected them. I’ve realized that even if it takes me longer to succeed, I’d rather move forward with God’s plan than my own.
I am also continuously learning and growing. As I seek startup funding for my company, I’m open to finding investors who align with the vision God has for my business. My goal is to build a company with a foundation of integrity, faith, and purpose, knowing that success is not just about profits but about the impact we make.

Rodney, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Thank you for the opportunity to share more about myself and my journey. My name is Rodney Hughes, and I’m a Christian business owner and speaker. I’m the founder of Harrison Hughes Enterprise, a company focused on helping other businesses achieve their goals through innovative strategies and personalized solutions. I initially got into this industry after a long radio career, where I worked in content management, marketing, and promotions. That experience gave me a deep understanding of how to connect with audiences and create value for clients. Transitioning into my own business has allowed me to apply these skills more broadly.
At Harrison Hughes Enterprise, we offer a range of services including content management, marketing, artist development, and business consulting. What sets us apart is our faith-driven approach. Every decision is guided by integrity, purpose, and a commitment to serving both God and our clients. We focus on solving problems that hold businesses back, whether it’s brand visibility, strategy development, or maximizing their potential in the marketplace.
One of the things I’m most proud of is our personalized approach. I work closely with each client, understanding their unique needs and goals, to deliver results that make a meaningful impact. I want potential clients to know that we are not just here for short-term wins; we’re here to build long-lasting relationships that help them succeed in the long run. Ultimately, my mission is to use my business as a platform to serve others while maintaining a foundation of faith and integrity.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that success only comes from conventional paths. Early in my career, I believed that the traditional route—working my way up in established companies—was the only way to achieve my goals. I watched colleagues climb the corporate ladder and assumed that was the standard blueprint for success.
However, as I gained more experience, particularly during my time with Cumulus Media and later in the music industry, I realized that success can take many forms. I found my passion in entrepreneurship and creative strategy, leading me to start my own venture, Harrison Hughes Enterprise. This shift taught me that following a unique path can be equally fulfilling, if not more so, than adhering to conventional norms.
Unlearning this lesson helped me embrace risk-taking, innovation, and the value of pursuing my passions, ultimately leading to personal and professional growth.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media has been a gradual but rewarding journey, shaped by authenticity and engagement. When I first started, I focused on sharing content that reflected my passion for the music industry and my experiences in marketing and promotions. I made it a priority to be genuine, sharing not only successes but also challenges and lessons learned along the way.
In the beginning, I posted daily motivational quotes across my platforms. This approach resonated with my audience, but it wasn’t until I reached out to Paula Monroe of P Monre Enterprise that my strategy evolved. She consulted me on transforming those motivational quotes into actual videos, emphasizing the importance of keeping content simple and engaging, especially for platforms like TikTok. Implementing her social media management strategies led to significant growth in my audience.
One of the turning points was when I began engaging actively with my followers. I responded to comments, asked for feedback, and encouraged conversations. Collaborating with artists and industry professionals helped me reach wider audiences, as their followers would also engage with my content. I leveraged platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn to share valuable insights, behind-the-scenes looks at my work, and the impact of my projects, which resonated with many.
For those just starting to build their social media presence, my advice would be:
Be Authentic: Share your true self and your passions. People are drawn to authenticity.
Engage with Your Audience: Respond to comments and messages and create a community around your content.
Consistency is Key: Post regularly to keep your audience engaged, but ensure that the quality of your content remains high.
Provide Value: Share information, insights, or entertainment that your audience will find beneficial.
Collaborate: Work with others in your field to cross-promote and reach new audiences.
Building an audience takes time, but staying true to yourself, being consistent in your efforts, and adapting your strategies based on feedback will yield positive results.
