Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Melina Kane. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Melina, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
What sets my approach apart from the organizing industry standard is that I go beyond the aesthetics of “pretty baskets and labels.” While these can certainly help make a space look cohesive, they’re not a real solution to the problem of clutter. I believe that lasting organization comes from understanding the deeper causes of why clutter builds up in the first place. It’s about creating systems that are not just beautiful, but also sustainable and customized to the unique rhythms of a household.
My journey toward this mindset began after the birth of my second son. I found myself completely overwhelmed—not just by motherhood, but by the sheer amount of stuff and the endless cycle of cleaning up. It wasn’t just physical clutter; it was mental and emotional clutter as well. In that moment of burnout, I knew I had to find a better way. I spent years learning—through books, courses, and podcasts—about minimalism, time management, and sustainable systems. And what I discovered was that the things we allow into our homes have a profound impact on how we live.
By addressing the underlying causes of clutter, I help my clients build homes that feel like havens, not just tidy spaces. One of my favorite examples of this was working with a busy mom who had tried organizing solutions before but found herself right back in the same chaotic cycle. Together, we didn’t just declutter her home; we built systems that aligned with her lifestyle and values. Now, she spends less time cleaning and more time doing what truly matters—being present with her family.

Melina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a Professional Organizer and Certified Life Coach with a heart for helping women and moms create homes that support the life they truly want to live. My journey into this industry was deeply personal. When I became a mom, I had envisioned everything going perfectly—beautiful nursery, perfectly planned days—but reality hit hard. The first few years were nothing like I imagined. I struggled with perfectionism, felt overwhelmed by the never-ending to-do lists, and often found myself lost in the chaos of daily life.
It wasn’t until I stumbled upon the concept of minimalism that I realized what was truly missing. I began to see that the clutter in our home was contributing to the clutter in my mind and heart. Little by little, I started simplifying our space, and as I did, I felt more clarity and peace. This personal transformation sparked my passion to help other women, especially moms, do the same.
Today, I offer both virtual and in-person organizing services. My virtual service is designed for those feeling stuck or overwhelmed with specific areas in their home. In just 4 weeks, we tackle your top 3 organizing challenges—whether that’s creating a spatial plan for a kid’s room, setting up sustainable systems in the kitchen, or reimagining storage solutions for closets. Each week, I provide personalized strategies, feedback, and accountability so clients can finally move from “thinking” to “doing.”
For those who prefer a more hands-on approach, my in-person service is a step-by-step process where I work side by side with my clients to bring harmony and function to your space. We thoughtfully categorize, edit, and style each area to flow with the natural rhythm of their home. It’s not just about creating Pinterest-perfect spaces; it’s about building systems that bring energy, balance, and ease to everyday life.
The women I work with are often exhausted by the endless cycle of clutter and cleaning. They’re tired of organizing only to see the mess return within days. They’ve watched all the Netflix organizing shows and tried countless methods but haven’t seen real, lasting change. I help them break that cycle by addressing the root causes of the clutter and creating sustainable systems that actually work for their family.
What I’m most proud of is the impact this work has on my clients’ lives. Seeing women and moms feel less overwhelmed, have more capacity for their careers and be more present with their families is incredibly rewarding. I believe that what fills our home has the power to shape our lives, and by living with less, we can actually free ourselves up for more—more time for what truly matters.
If there’s one thing I want potential clients to know, it’s that the organizing process is a journey. It’s not just about getting rid of things; it’s about creating a home that reflects who you are and supports the life you want to live. I’m here to guide women every step of the way, whether you need help decluttering, setting up routines, or just finding a sustainable system that truly works.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe that what has really helped me build my reputation within this market is the authenticity and heart I bring to every interaction, whether it’s with clients or fellow entrepreneurs. I’ve always valued honesty, connection, and vulnerability, and those values shape how I show up in my business. When people work with me, they know they’re getting the real me—someone who deeply cares about their success, whether that’s organizing their home or growing their own business.
One of my natural gifts is being a connector. I thrive on building relationships and bringing people together, whether it’s linking two entrepreneurs who could benefit from each other’s skills or supporting a client in ways that go beyond just decluttering. I’m not just about organizing things; I’m passionate about connecting people with the resources, support, or encouragement they need to thrive. That reputation as a bridge-builder has helped me develop meaningful relationships in the community and a network of fellow organizers and coaches that I love cheering on.
When it comes to my clients, I bring a lot of compassion and zero judgment to the table. I know how overwhelming clutter can be, and I want my clients to feel at ease and supported throughout the process. I make it a point to create a space where they feel comfortable and safe—where they know they can open up about their struggles without any fear of criticism. I want them to know I’m here to help, not to impose some impossible standard of perfection.
What’s been most important to me is creating impact. I didn’t start this business to just “organize stuff”—I started it to help people transform their lives, feel more present in their homes, and find more peace in their daily routines. I’m intentional about who I work with because I want to ensure that we’re a good fit and that I can truly make a difference in their lives. I think that level of intentionality and care has helped people trust me and value my approach.
Ultimately, my reputation is built on my love of encouragement and my commitment to supporting those around me. I genuinely want to see people succeed, and I think that shows in how I show up for my clients, fellow business owners, and my community as a whole.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has always been through building authentic relationships and fostering trust within my community. Almost all of my clients come from personal referrals, which I take as a huge compliment. It’s the ultimate validation of the work I do when someone trusts me enough to recommend me to their friends, family, or colleagues.
Many of these referrals have come from women within my business networks, both online and in my local community. I’m a firm believer that relationships are at the core of any successful business, and I’ve always prioritized genuine connections over just trying to “sell” my services. I love getting to know people, understanding their needs, and supporting them, whether it’s organizing their home or offering advice to fellow entrepreneurs. That authentic connection often leads to word-of-mouth referrals, as people feel comfortable sharing my name with others who may need help.
I’ve found that women, especially moms, tend to talk openly about their struggles with managing home life, clutter, and all the demands that come with it. When one mom shares how much better her life feels after organizing her space or implementing systems with me, others naturally want to know how they can achieve the same results. It’s that personal experience, combined with the trust built from honest relationships, that has been my most powerful source of new clients.
I’m proud of the fact that my business has grown through these personal connections, and I continue to focus on nurturing those relationships, both in person and online. At the end of the day, it’s not just about the services I provide, but the community I build around it—one that is supportive, empowering, and deeply rooted in trust.
