Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Max Guidon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Max, thanks for joining us today. Is your team able to work remotely? If so, how have you made it work? What, if any, have been the pitfalls? What have been the non-obvious benefits?
Our company was founded in the midst of the Covid pandemic, so remote work has been part of our DNA from the start. We operate fully remote, without a physical office. Everyone on our team works from home, and they are located outside of Miami. Despite this, we collaborate daily to achieve our results. I’m the only person physically in Miami, so all final coordination and client presentations are handled directly by me, ensuring an added layer of quality control.
One of the great benefits of not having a physical office is that we provide an elevated experience to our clients by going to them. Instead of asking them to visit us, we meet them in their own environment, which allows them to feel more relaxed while reviewing our design proposals and materials in the very space that will be renovated. This setup not only enhances their comfort but also eliminates the hassle of driving, traffic, and meeting at a fixed time, making the entire process smoother and more convenient.
With today’s technologies and software, staying connected is seamless, enabling us to collaborate effectively, manage tasks, and keep projects on track. Of course, as interior designers, there are challenges—like assessing color and texture, which are harder to evaluate on a screen. However, we’ve developed a strong internal system for reviewing, sourcing, and selecting these elements, ensuring we maintain the quality our projects demand.
Additionally, remote work has allowed us to collaborate with a wider network of talent and vendors, which wouldn’t be as easy with a traditional office setup. It has also given our team a better work-life balance, resulting in more creativity and focus in the design process.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and from a young age, I dreamed of becoming an architect. However, given the challenging circumstances in my home country, I pursued a degree in Production Engineering. Graduating Cum Laude, I acquired skills that later proved invaluable in my interior design career.
After working in my family’s business, I moved to Miami to follow my passion for design. Initially torn between architecture and design, I soon discovered that interior design was my true calling. Graduating Magna Cum Laude and as class valedictorian further solidified this path for me.
The pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, but it also inspired me to start Guidon Studio. Launching my own design studio during such uncertain times was a leap of faith, but Miami’s thriving real estate market provided an exciting opportunity. Despite the difficulties, my studio quickly adapted and grew, driven by the city’s demand for sophisticated residential design.
At Guidon Studio, we specialize in high-end residential interior design. We understand that design is not merely about aesthetics; it’s a transformative experience that tells a story and reflects our clients’ personalities. We are committed to crafting bespoke interiors that seamlessly blend form and function. Our approach is unique because we don’t confine ourselves to a specific style. Instead, we shape our design philosophy based on each client’s vision, ensuring spaces that are authentic, innovative, and deeply personal.
One of the key benefits of our remote work model is the enhanced client experience. We visit our clients’ homes directly, which allows them to review design proposals and materials in their own environment. This approach eliminates the need for clients to travel, making the design process more relaxed and engaging while ensuring we understand the space that will be renovated.
Guidon Studio is more than a design firm; we are storytellers and problem solvers dedicated to creating spaces that inspire and endure. Our success is defined by the satisfaction of our clients and our commitment to quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. Through our website, www.guidonstudio.com, you can explore our portfolio, learn about our design philosophy, and discover how we can bring your design dreams to life.
What I want potential clients and readers to know is that we are passionate about fostering genuine connections and creating designs that are a true reflection of our clients’ lifestyles. We look forward to the opportunity to collaborate and turn your vision into reality.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My journey from production engineering to interior design, and ultimately founding Guidon Studio, has been one of the most significant pivots in my life. It wasn’t just a change in career—it was a profound shift in how I envisioned my future and the impact I wanted to make.
I began my career in production engineering, graduating Cum Laude from Simón Bolívar University in Venezuela. The discipline taught me how to solve complex problems with precision, efficiency, and a systematic approach—skills that have proven invaluable. However, I often felt unfulfilled. While engineering honed my problem-solving abilities, I yearned for more creative expression. I had always been passionate about architecture and design, but it felt like a distant dream compared to the practical path of engineering.
The political turmoil in Venezuela led to a life-altering decision: relocating to Miami, Florida. This pivotal moment prompted deep reflection, and I realized it was the perfect time to pursue my true passion—interior design. I enrolled in a B.A. in Interior Design program in Miami, graduated magna cum laude, and had the honor of being named class valedictorian. That marked the first major pivot in my career.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
At Guidon Studio, as a boutique interior design firm, the relationships we build with our clients are deeply personal. In designing their homes, we naturally come to know many intimate details about their lives—what they like, their family members, how they entertain, and their daily routines. This level of involvement fosters a close and trusting relationship.
We believe in establishing authentic human connections, which often evolve into lasting friendships. We keep in touch with most of our clients regularly, knowing their birthdays, holiday celebrations, and even being invited to and participating in those special moments. This allows us to maintain a balanced professional and personal relationship, which helps reinforce loyalty and trust long after the project is completed.
