We were lucky to catch up with Heather Corbet recently and have shared our conversation below.
Heather, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
With my background in Spiritual Advising & Mediumship, Sensory Processing, Brainspotting, & Teaching, there have been several defining moments which pivoted or integrated my current trajectories.
As a professor, a defining moment was when my graduate students really grasped the sensory processing of a child with a special need.
In Brainspotting, a defining moment was witnessing my client make an impactful breakthru with their trauma to Enlightenment & Profound Insight.
Within Spiritual Advising, it has been witnessing a client connecting with their Spiritual gifts & recognizing they had it all along.
One personal defining moment in particular that has further spurred me to support those to connect thru Mediumship was the passing of my cousin during before his senior year of high school.
The late night call came from a relative telling me my dear cousin, who was like a brother to me, had passed in a horrific car accident. With my head reeling, I vowed to visit the crash scene the next day.
When I visited the crash scene the next day, the devastation brought me to my knees in grief. I cried out on that desolate back-country road, “Please send me an Angel!” Within moments, a man on a bike came gliding down the hill toward me.
As he came closer, he stopped, laid his bike down, took my hands & lifted me up. He surveyed the scene & began to pray with me, for my family & to ensure no one’s life was taken here again. He looked into my eyes, mounted his bike, & seemed to disappear on the horizon.
Was this an Angel? Were my cries heard? As I continued on my journey, I literally got back on my feet & started moving forward with life. I became a kindergarten teacher, found my own apartment, & started meditating daily.
During a mediation circle with others, I held a crystal on my lap, & settled in. As I did, this time felt… different. I witnessed as a wave of Love seemed to come over me. Then a figure seemed to swoop in my eyes.
I knew who this was. With his freckled face close & his blue eyes looking into mine, I knew. This was my cousin, Mikey. As I grappled to understand further, the only question I could muster in my mind was, “Did you send me the Angel?”
Mikey simply nodded his head, looked to see if I understood, & then seemed to vanish. With my mind reeling once again, I wanted to know more. How did he do this? How did I do this?? I vowed to dedicate my path to discovering more.
So, here we are. Twenty five years later. Since then, I completed my Master’s degree in Therapy, married my Soul Mate, have 2 children (Audrey is 24 & just graduated with her Master’s in Neuroscience & Psychology and Owen, who just turned 16, got his driver’s license & is ready for his junior year in high school).
Also since then, I have dedicated my profession to Spiritual development. My heart is with those who have lost… and gained connection with their loved one who has passed. My dedication is based on my own defining moment of loss… and gain of connection.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I remember this moment vividly. During a solo mountain bike ride 15 years ago, my shoes were clipped into the pedals. As I saw a downed tree up ahead, I frantically unclipped, but only one foot came out. My other one stayed clipped in & within seconds, I barreled toward the tree & knew my fate. Sure enough, my body turned & I stopped as my ribs crashed into the tree.
I felt my ribs crack, but couldn’t believe it could be “that bad.” I biked home & took myself to the doctor. They gave me a rib brace & told me to use it “sparingly,” & that ribs usually “heal themselves.” Not in my case.
Rather than getting better, my injury got worse, steadily worse. Doctors were baffled. Following 3 years of cortisone shots, physical therapy, & anti-inflammatory medication, I still lived with chronic pain. One orthopedic doctor said he wanted to send me to the Mayo Clinic. I wasn’t ready for the Mayo Clinic.
I vowed there was another way & that I had ownership of my Healing Journey. Then I discovered Reiki. During the Reiki class, my symptoms began to subside, and my healing & intuition began to increase.
As I went through the Healing process & subsequent Reiki classes, I vowed that my Life was a Life for sharing what I discovered with others; a Life of proving that we indeed can “Heal Thyself.”
