We were lucky to catch up with Mikey Cook recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mikey, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally was back in high school. I was the type of kid who always had a camera or notebook in hand, experimenting with different ways to express myself. I remember vividly a moment during junior year when I entered a film project for a school event. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but when the film played for the entire student body, the reaction was electric. People were coming up to me afterward, telling me how much they loved the way I captured emotions and how I had this unique eye for storytelling. It wasn’t just my classmates hyping me up, either—teachers and mentors began to take notice, encouraging me to lean into my talents. The confidence boost I got from that moment lit up something inside me. It felt like validation, like maybe I was onto something. I had always been the creative one in my friend group, but that experience made me realize that creativity could be more than a hobby—it could be a career.
Creativity runs deep in my family, too. My dad was a musician, and my mom always sang in the choir in hand. Growing up, I was surrounded by art and music, constantly inspired by the way they could make people feel. I used to daydream about working in a field where I could do that every day. Seeing my parents live out their passions, even when they weren’t doing it for work, showed me that creativity is a lifestyle, not just a job. It was in those high school moments, coupled with the artistic energy in my home, that I realized I wanted to turn that daydream into my reality. From that point forward, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else but creating.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve spent over 12 years honing my craft in social media and content marketing, building a personal brand centered on authentic storytelling, creativity, and community building. My journey started with a deep passion for sharing stories through digital platforms, which eventually led to the growth of my own YouTube channel and collaborations with leading brands like Sony and Amazon. Through years of working across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, I’ve learned what it takes to not just capture attention but to build loyal, engaged audiences.
My content focuses on a blend of lifestyle, mental health, and cinematography, offering value to followers by showing that you don’t need a rigid niche to thrive in this space. I also make music and so much more.
What sets my personal brand apart is the combination of heartfelt storytelling with data-driven strategies, allowing me to stand out in a crowded digital landscape.
I focus on creating content that resonates deeply with people while also being aligned with growth objectives, whether that’s building a community or driving engagement. I’m proud of my ability to adapt and stay authentic in an ever-changing industry, and I’m constantly pushing myself to evolve creatively while maintaining a connection with my audience.
What I really want people to know most about my work is that it’s not just about the numbers or viral moments—it’s about making real connections and providing value, whether through meaningful content or a message that inspires.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
To best support artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem, society needs to recognize the value that creativity brings to our culture and economy. This starts with creating spaces—both physical and digital—where creatives can connect, collaborate, and showcase their work without barriers.
Funding and resources, whether through grants, residencies, or accessible platforms, are essential in helping artists thrive. Education also plays a huge role; schools should nurture creativity from a young age, encouraging students to explore artistic pursuits alongside academic ones. By fostering an environment that celebrates creative expression and providing the infrastructure to sustain it, society can build a community where artists can grow, experiment, and truly make an impact.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Well for me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the ability to connect with others on a deeper, more emotional level.
There’s something incredibly fulfilling about putting a piece of yourself into your work and seeing it resonate with someone else, whether it’s inspiring them, comforting them, or making them feel seen.
It’s the shared experience that drives me—knowing that through my content, I can spark conversations, build community, or simply provide a sense of joy or meaning in someone’s day.
