We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Malika Majesty a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Malika thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents always encouraged me to pursue my creative interests. From partnering with one of my parents friends on a business venture at just 12 years old up to starting my first business at 20, they have forever been supportive of me following where my heart takes me. I remember when I started my own solo business they gifted me books on online businesses and helped me get my first contract with a web developer to launch my website. My middle name, Beth, came from my mom’s sister, my Auntie B. She is an herbalist who started her own fair trade tea and herb shop called Global Fusion in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Perhaps my parents knew I would also walk the path of herbalism and entrepreneurship…

Malika, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My Arabic name is Malika ( ملكة ) which means “Queen” in Arabic. I choose to go by this name to the public. The reason I chose this name for myself and for my company is because I believe there is a queen in every woman, and we all deserve to get to know her and embody her. My business, Queens Rise, helps women awaken that Queen and find her again if they ever lose sight of her. By offering organic herbal remedies for PMS, Postpardum, Infertility, PMS, Mental Health Disorders, and “incurable” diseases, I am one of many in my generation continuing the work of great herbalists like Dr. Sebi and Queen Afua.
Holistic wellness practices are something that mainstream society seriously lacks and most people have been scammed into a life of paying to move their bodies and blindly getting poisoned by everything around them. Do you recall when Ms. Badu said “it’s bigger than the government”?
Queens Rise is a faith based business, although my products are enjoyed by all people of all religions, and I am a proud woman of faith who incorporates prayer and intention into my products. I believe God gave us all important work to do on this Earth spiritually. Helping people, especially women, heal through holistic methods is part of my spiritual work.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I strongly believe in real life experience and following the path God laid out for you. Knowing your own self and The Creator deeply is the only way to succeed. Many people physically work towards goals, but neglect the spiritual work.
I spent nearly 10 years healing myself with my products, so for me, this is more than just a business, this is my medicine.
Often when people see me they see a young woman in her early 20’s and immediately shoot down the knowledge I’ve acquired about the natural world, energy, herbalism, and healing the human bodies (energetic, physical, and emotional). It is important to detach from physical aspects and to judge people based on their souls instead. I am confident in the knowledge and abilities I’ve been blessed with from my Creator. No matter how you may be perceived by those who cannot truly perceive, stand firm on your path using the feet God gave you.
To be successful is to be in a place to help others, and to help others you must help yourself first.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I did not grow up as a Muslim. As a teen getting into holistic medicine, I used to pride myself on the fact that my zodiac sign was a libra/scorpio cusp, I could talk to ghosts, and I could read the room like a baby book (a little too easily). I knew God as a Christian, but I didn’t know how to use my gifts in a way that honored God yet. In 2020, I was working in cartomancy and astrology at a local herb and metaphysics shop. I began to feel that it was not the place for me, so I opened my own practice and started my first business. I owned a successful online crystal & candle business and gained a large social media audience while talking about spirituality and lapidary medicine. In July 2021, as I went further down my spiritual path, I felt the urge to get closer to God, and I prayed hard. God introduced me to Islam about 2 weeks later. Fast forward to Ramadan 2024, I gave up my first business and dissolved my LLC for the sake of Allah. Although I wasn’t practicing shirk, the roots of that business were not Islamic and I wanted a business that I was proud to pass on to my daughter. 2 months later, God placed Queens Rise on my heart. I have only been an official business since July 1, 2024 and have already developed a wonderful client base and a strong line of natural products that I am proud of. When you give something up for the sake of Allah, He replaces it with better.
