We were lucky to catch up with Patrick White recently and have shared our conversation below.
Patrick, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
My entire life I’ve craved security. My goal in life as a child was just to be happy, and at peace. What I’ve learned in my 33 years on this earth is that life is not about being happy, and if one wants peace, one should prepare for war.
Growing up, I was the guy who would rather not try to do anything and not be involved, in anything, because there is no failure in watching and learning. I’ve spent most of my years learning, and growing, and experimenting so I can learn some more.
And at some point in my adult life it became apparent to me that all of my knowledge is useless without action. I am not just a head. I have a body as well. I had a lot of thoughts about how the world should be, and how I should be, and how my life should be. But my life, my self, and this world could never change and become what it should be without my actions.
Once I had this realization, I began to make things happen for myself. And to make things happen, you have to accept failure as part of the process. You have to accept plans going awry and learn to adjust. You have to be willing to be trained, molded, and shaped by your experiences.
We are all being changed every day, whether we want to be or not. Our only true power is that we can allow others to mold us, and allow this life to happen to us, or we can make life happen and mold ourselves..
So at 29, I quit my job, moved out of my apartment, packed what I could into my car and essentially sold everything else. Then I drove ten hours across 3 states with a woman I had met years before, but had only reconnected with a couple of months earlier. We moved from Gautier, MS to St. Louis together. That relationship ended within two weeks of living in St. Louis.
Subsequently, I went on Facebook dating, since I was alone and sad in a major city that I had just moved to. The first woman I matched with is now my wife today. She helped me to secure a job that was greater than the one I had in Mississippi. I finally gave my life to Christ in St. Louis. I have a home with my wife and our dog and cat. I am so blessed. And that’s only because I trusted God and took a huge risk.
I left the security of my job, my home state, my family and friends, and leaped into a whole new life. This is the power of faith, trust, hope, and simply taking action. “Faith without works is dead.” Says the Lord.

Patrick, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The mission of the Stoned Loner is to provide music and entertainment, as well as education about Jesus Christ, human psychology, and the human condition, to the world through internet content and performing arts. I seek to alter the minds of our youth and adults in a positive way, through the power of music, critical thinking, and humor.
The entertainment industry has increasingly become more negative and destructive to the minds of the youth and our society over the past few decades. There is a demand for music in general, but specifically a desired increase in music with positive messaging and thought-provoking content. This project aims to increase the spread of Stoned Loner’s music and content to the world through the internet, to give the youth in particular positive direction and combat the negative content pervading the entertainment industry.
Patrick White aka the Stoned Loner has been creating music for the last 15 years. Music drives the zeitgeist as well as the minds of our society and has done so since the beginning of time. Music created by artists who have long since passed away, still affect the society and drive culture despite their physical absence. The internet is a well of history and once content is on the internet, it is almost impossible to get rid of. Therefore any music and content created by Stoned Loner will impact generations to come.
The community, especially the United States, has experienced in-fighting, hate speech, violence, and an increased call for change over the past couple of decades. Providing positive values, maybe especially Christian values, in music and internet creations aligns with the desires of the community to combat said negative experiences. There has been a call for less destructive music and messaging in our entertainment and Stoned Loner intends to answer this call.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The simple answer is that being an artist is being one with God. To be used by God, to be his vessel of truth, that is the most rewarding aspect of being an artist.
So why did God create us?
We are made in His image, so we have His qualities. God is a creator and the reason He created us is for love. He wanted something to love and He wanted to be loved.
I always wondered why in movies and TV shows, human men would be amongst superpowered, supernatural, unstoppable beings, and at the end of every one, the seemingly least powerful average person would end up being the true hero.
It was always the human that saved the day, and they would say something to the effect of it being “their love” “their heart” or because “they care” that was their true power, that’s what made them special.. I honestly thought it was so stupid.. Why would “love” make you more powerful than these other incredible beings?
Now it all makes sense..
God desires us to have hope for good things, and have faith that he will carry out those things. But most importantly he wants us to have love, above all things. For what is good is always led by love..
God loved the world, so much so, that he sacrified his only son.. himself really, made physical so that we would not have to be destroyed due to our lack of love.
God created the world in fact, to express his love in multiple ways, within multiple beings, because there could never be too much of it. Our existence is one big attempt at filling every void with love, and all darkness with light.
So why wouldn’t he want us to have that same love? Anything that’s done without love serves no purpose in glorifying him.. If what we hope for is not based on our love for him, this world, and the people he put in it, then what we hope for is not in his will.
We are meant to be representatives of God, to be in his likeness. That’s how we glorify him. We make him look good by exemplifying his ways.
It’s not a punishment to love him, or to love others.. It is God-like behavior. Love is the only true expression of God. Life itself is created through acts of love. Lost souls are found, through love. The meaning of life, the reason there is life, is love..
If you claim to be of God, but rebel against his ways, you can never experience his full glory.. You get what you give. You attract what you are.
Be love. Be like God, as much as you can.. For there is no greater purpose.
Love is what sets us apart.. Love is what gives us power amongst the most powerful.. For where there is love, there is the hand of God.
Love is how we will save the world.. It’s the only way.
In being like God, we must understand, God is all powerful. And that’s because God knows all. Knowledge is power. And with great power comes great responsibility. If we know better, we must do better. We know what to do by the power of the Holy Spirit. So listen to the Spirit. Be obedient. Follow and flourish. In all His ways.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I grew up in the 90s and the internet was really just becoming a thing. And since my mom wanted me to stay safe in the house and not run the streets, I was pretty much always indoors. So I entertained myself with TV, video games, music, books, and internet.
Everything about my self is influenced by Hollywood and culture. There is actually a lot to learn from Hollywood and culture. There’s a lot to learn from just observing, if you pay attention,
So when I started rapping, I didn’t go read a book about rapping. I just paid more attention to the music I was already listening to. I began to study the artists.
I learned to play with words the way they do.
I knew what I liked whenever I heard it, so I just had to reverse engineer it to discover what made me like it. Ánd whatever that was, I did more of that.
The same way I studied rappers to understand what makes good rap; I have also studied other managers, entrepreneurs, and philosophers to understand them: Socrates, Confucius, my old bosses, my current bosses, public figures like Steve Jobs.
I’ve watched many movies, fiction and non-fiction, that have taught me how to manage people, how to manage circumstances etc.
For me, there was not one medium that significantly impacted me. Instead everything made sense to me. It was all just out of order. Everything was connected, but it was not put together in the correct fashion.
That was until I discovered a deeper understanding of the Bible. And that made everything come together. Everything I had studied and learned in this world, about all religions, governments, science, history, it all fit into the Bible.
The Bible is the book for me that has taken the wealth of knowledge I have in my head, and turned it into wisdom. The Bible is the truth, but hard to understand without experience. The more I live, the more sense the Bible makes.
