Dena, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Surfing in the Midwest has never been better. With the latest technology, it is possible to explore new coastlines in the Heartland and appreciate and enjoy inland lakes. Efoiling is an emerging watersport that combines surfing with flying over water and is particularly enjoyable on calm inland waters.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Efoil Over Erie offers demos and sales of efoils in the Great Lakes and surrounding regions in OH, PA, NY, IN and MI.
The efoil technology is rapidly growing and evolving to provide a more thrilling experience than ever. For example, a battery charge can now provide up to 2.5 hours of ride time.
We’ve been in business for over five years, and were the first to bring the sport to Lake Erie. Our longevity is unique, and we can provide insights into the sport and can speak to the quality of the Lift Foils technology.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Lift Foils launched heavily on Instagram and Tik Tok. We followed a similar pattern, but quickly recognized that our sport was most popular among 50+ and added Facebook to our lineup.
We also needed dynamic content, and participated in news interviews, which were posted on YouTube and served as additional content pieces. Much of these interviews took place at our first boat show, which gave us an event to highlight.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth is always the best strategy. I know it sounds cliche, but once we sold some efoils, they referred friends and family and that’s been our biggest success. Our customers are our biggest brand ambassadors.
