We were lucky to catch up with Omar Henry recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Omar thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

You know? For years, I couldn’t tell you what our mission was. But as life progressed I’ve come to realize our mission is simple, to inspire! I believe everyone is born with Gr8ness inside of them, it’s apart of their DNA. God created us all to be unique and in that, we all have gifts and talents that set us apart. My mission is to show others it’s possible!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Omar and I’m the founder of Gr8ness Entertainment. I am of Jamaican decent and was born in Fort Lauderdale Fl. Gr8ness is more than just an entertainment company. If I’m honest, at most times it feels bigger than me.

When I was 21 I remember getting a call that my cousin passed away, and for the first time in my life I experienced real tragedy. It took me out of my current state of mind and reminded me just how short life was.

Now I know this is about me. But, there would be no Gr8ness Entertainment without him. He was so smart, just in a natural way. So when he passed I began Gr8ness in his honor as he inspired me.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

In 2017, I was in a pretty bad accident. In which, left me unable to do much of anything for 2 years. It’s not something I like to bring up, but it has shaped the way I think about “Pushing through”. Life isn’t easy on anybody and the biggest thing I’ve learned is that it’s not about the elements, but how we respond to them.

It wasn’t like I had a choice. I was in bed with a broken spine and I had to remind myself that life would move forward with or without me. So in order for me to achieve success, even from this starting point, I would have to push through.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?

I know that if my team were to see this question they’d agree with me on one thing. That one thing is, it’s always about the team. I’ve worked for many “Corprate” jobs and one thing that always drives me away is the way they treat their employees.

I will always stand by the fact that, they are what makes Gr8ness strong. I couldn’t begin to handle everything they handle and I’m truly grateful for them.

My only advice is to treat them like family. That means something different to everybody. But when I say family, I mean the ones you hold dear!
