Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Antonio Liranzo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Antonio, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I worked on is my EP “Lover Boy”, that just debuted on 10/18/24. While creating this project, I was trying to analyze why I had toxic dating habits; why was I so codependent?, why did I fall in love so quickly?, why am I trying to be someone I am not?! This EP celebrates that experience. I take you on a journey from my personal experiences, from feeling sexy with your girls and gays, to falling in love, to falling out of love, to having sex in a different country haha, its all part of the human experience! I also wanted to pave my own way for an artist like me. Yes, I am a gay pop artist, but also I am Antonio Liranzo. No one sounds like me or has my experience, it’s about time the world catches up! I am representing the underdogs in my community and the people that are vulnerable lovers, who are sometimes scared of being so vulnerable. There is strength in our love and eagerness, it’s about damn time we are seen. We aren’t weak, we are brave because we love and we are passionate.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey, I am Antonio Liranzo, 32, from Long Island, NY. A proud Italian, Dominican, Libra, ready to spice up your life haha. So here is the short version of a long story. I grew up always wanting to be a performer, my family had very little money, so my options to train were very limited. Growing up, I did a lot of self training, by watching Britney Spears music videos and singing along to Disney animated movies. Fast forward to my twenties, I graduated from college and started pursuing dance and acting. I trained at amazing dance schools like; Alvin Ailey, BDC and Steps. I also trained at the Michael Chekhov Acting Studio, I was determined to become a big time artist. I was modeling at the time and working retail jobs to survive, living in NYC. When 2020 came around and we all had to stay home, I had all of these creative downloads to write and create poetry books, so my career shifted during 2020-2022, I published four books (you can check them out on Amazon) and found success through my poetry. While that success was happening, I decided to move to Los Angeles in 2022 to pursue my acting and singing dreams, it was time to go all in with my music! Finally my debut EP is out and I am so excited for you all to listen to it.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In this day and age, the best way to support an artist is to stream their music, go to their shows, buy their merch. These things help us stay afloat (a little lol), we put so much money into our work, that the support make us feel that the work was all worth it!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Absolutely, so I grew up on Long Island wanting to be a performer, it’s all I ever dreamed about. My brother and I were raised by our amazing single mother, unfortunately we didn’t have any money, so I couldn’t afford to pursue the arts or dance schools. A lot of my training came from watching music videos and live performances, especially from artists like Britney Spears. I will never forget listening to “Baby One More Time” and thinking, this is what I wanted to do. When Britney debuted “You Drive Me (Crazy)”, I was at home listening to the song on the radio and something just clicked, there was a spark that was ignited in me, I knew this was my destiny. Fast forward to high school and college, I was in theater productions and on a dance team, I decided it was time to perform. I was always scared to sing and use my voice as a solo artist until this year, it took 32 years to grow the courage, but now I have the confidence and knowledge of who I am through my music. Music is my expression and strength.
This story sums up that, even without proper training, I taught myself everything! I never gave up on my dreams, ever since I was 14 years of age, I was working multiple jobs to survive, and even now I am doing the same! Resilience is key to my existence and identification, my childhood has shaped me to become a fearless fighter for what I want!
