We were lucky to catch up with Loki Rara recently and have shared our conversation below.
Loki, appreciate you joining us today. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
In the beginning of my business I had to be a one man army and put in 11-18 hours of work a day just to get it up and off the ground. The way I scaled in the beginning was pure grit and determination. Once it was off the ground and my foundation was built I started implementing more people into my business. When I was able to accept help and let other people jump on board I started to see more seamless growth because now I am not the only one carrying all the responsibilities.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am in the entertainment business and run a personal brand that stretches from social media to clothing and the big screen. I provide my fan base with a safe space to come and be themselves while producing content and promoting products that bring in revenue consistently every month.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A time I had to pivot was when I was when I was making a certain style of video that I believed was good but the data was not reflecting that. I took a look at everything I was doing and saw what was doing the best. I then purely focused on the format that was doing the best and scratched the others and my brand went to another level.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I had seen massive growth in my business but my financial situation was strained due to re investing all of my profits back into the business. This caused for some tough times as my support system had given up on me. I had spent 3 nights in a homeless shelter till my best friend had given me $100 to get back on my feet. Once this happened I’ve experienced such a blissful state of events as well as personal and business growth that would have never been possible if I gave up during that hard time.
