We were lucky to catch up with Xunxing Liang recently and have shared our conversation below.
Xunxing, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the best boss, mentor, or leader you’ve ever worked with.
One of the best leaders I’ve had the privilege of working under is the founder and creative director of the studio where I currently work. As a packaging designer, my role requires constant experimentation to achieve the perfect structure, which often means a significant investment in both time and materials. What makes my boss truly exceptional is the amount of trust and freedom they provide throughout this process. I’m given the space to experiment, to make mistakes, and to find innovative solutions without the pressure of immediate perfection.
In addition to offering me this creative freedom, my boss ensures that I have all the resources necessary to succeed. They’ve equipped me with state-of-the-art tools and materials that allow me to explore a wide range of possibilities. In fact, for one of my recent projects, they even went above and beyond by purchasing a brand-new 3D printer capable of working with flexible materials. This not only showed their commitment to my growth but also demonstrated how much they value the innovation and quality of our work.
The impact this level of support has had on me—and the entire team—cannot be overstated. It fosters an environment where creativity flourishes, and every team member feels encouraged to push boundaries. Their leadership style has cultivated a culture of collaboration and innovation, making us all strive for excellence in every project we undertake.

Xunxing, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an internationally awarded packaging designer, specializing in providing comprehensive solutions that cover everything from brand identity design to packaging structure and graphic design. What sets my work apart is my relentless pursuit of innovation in packaging structure and material selection. I focus on creating packaging that not only stands out visually but is also cost-effective and environmentally friendly. My designs emphasize user experience while enhancing brand consistency, which makes them both practical and appealing.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of brands, from food and daily necessities to luxury goods, offering tailored packaging solutions that meet their unique needs. Whether it’s reducing costs or crafting something visually striking and eco-conscious, my goal is to push the boundaries of what packaging can achieve. For potential clients, followers, or fans, I want them to know that my work is about more than just aesthetics. It’s about creating a meaningful connection between the product, the brand, and the consumer.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had known earlier about resources like Material ConneXion, which offers access to an extensive library of innovative and sustainable materials. This would have greatly helped me in pushing the boundaries of packaging structure from the start. Another resource is The Dieline, which is an amazing platform for packaging design inspiration and industry trends.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my business partner in high school, and we quickly became close friends. When I moved to another city for art exam training, we were, by chance, placed in the same class and even shared a two-person desk. From that moment, we went through many ups and downs together, building a deep friendship. Later, when he founded his own photography equipment company, it felt natural for me to join him as a trusted business partner.
